Listen... every once in a while life sends you a person that makes you wonder how they manage to fit 37 hours into a 24-hour day. π€π
Amanda Marie Nichols is one of those people.
Community Health Worker. β€οΈ Peer Support. π€ Piercer. β¨ Community Activist. π’ Second Chance Prom Queen (okay, planner... but still π). Dog Mom. πΎ Recovery Advocate. π Professional "Sure, I'll help with that" person. π
Somewhere between meetings, events, outreach, advocacy, planning, volunteering, and changing lives, Amanda became one of my favorite people to serve beside.
When the Southern Kentucky Reentry Council brought us together to create Recovery in UNITY, I knew it would be something special. What I didn't know was how much I would come to appreciate her heart, dedication, creativity, and ability to make things happen.
If you attended Recovery in UNITY in the last years you saw the event. What you didn't see were the countless hours, texts, calls, brainstorming sessions, stress, laughter, and determination that Amanda poured into making it happen.
She is the kind of person who sees a need and immediately asks, "How can I help?"
The kind of person who believes people deserve second chances.
The kind of person who reminds us that recovery isn't just about staying clean and soberβit's about building community, creating connection, and making sure nobody has to walk alone.
Amanda, thank you for your friendship, your partnership, and your willingness to dream big with me. The recovery community is stronger because of people like you.
And if I've learned anything over the last year, it's this:
We are DEFINITELY not done yet. π
September 5, 2026... we're coming for you. ππ€
