Looking for a way to connect with Kentucky's disability community? 💜

The Kentucky Disability Advocacy Hub is a new online space bringing together people with disabilities, advocates, and organizations from across the state!

The hub uses Discord, a free website and app where people can connect, ask questions, share resources, and learn about upcoming events. Think of it as an online community bulletin board where everyone can share information and stay connected!

Organizations can also share their services, websites, and social media pages to help people find the resources they need.

The hub is just getting started, and we'd love to see it grow! Thanks Independence Seekers Project for sharing this!

Accessible Parking Reminder: Shopping Carts Matter! ♿

Leaving shopping carts in accessible parking spaces or access aisles can create unnecessary barriers for people with disabilities.

These spaces are designed to provide safe access for individuals who use wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices. Even one shopping cart can make it difficult or impossible for someone to park, enter, or exit their vehicle safely.

A small action can make a big difference! Always return shopping carts to designated cart return areas and help keep accessible parking spaces clear.

Accessibility is everyone's responsibility! 💙

🎃🧡 A HUGE thank you to BikeWalk BG for hosting our “Inked with Inclusion” Wash-Off Tattoo Station at CAL’s 2nd Annual Accessible Trunk or Treat!

When they reached out about participating, we found a creative way to make it happen by combining resources! CAL provided the temporary tattoos, and BikeWalk BG generously donated their time and energy to bring the station to life!

And what a HIT it was! I’m pretty sure every child in the vicinity left with some Halloween ink! 😂👻

Thank you, BikeWalk BG, for your time, dedication, and willingness to help make this event so special! This is what community partnerships are all about! 💜

🎃💜 WOW, BOWLING GREEN… WHAT AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT! 💜🎃

My heart is still overflowing with pride, gratitude, and pure joy as I reflect on the Center for Accessible Living – Bowling Green’s 2nd Annual Accessible Trunk or Treat! 🧡

Months of planning, preparation, countless conversations, and an AMAZING amount of community support came together to create something truly MAGNIFICENT!

✨ 30 vendors
🚚 5 food trucks
🙌 Approximately 88 incredible individuals who volunteered, participated, and helped make this event possible!

And the most incredible part?

🎃 An estimated 850 children and family members came out to celebrate with us! 🎃

Whether you came to trick-or-treat, get your face painted, get “tatted” at our Inclusive Ink station (wash-off tattoos, of course! 🤣), snap a photo, or simply enjoy the festivities, you helped make this evening unforgettable!

But what means the most to me isn’t the numbers. It’s what those numbers represent. 💜

A community coming together where EVERYONE belongs. Where differences don’t divide us, accessibility matters, inclusion is intentional, and everyone is welcomed like a friend.

THAT is what the Center for Accessible Living is all about! 💜

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every vendor, food truck, volunteer, community partner, family, and individual who helped make this event possible. I cannot adequately express how much your generosity, time, and support mean to me and to our organization.

🌟 A very special thank you to our wonderful sponsors:

💛 Ingram Insurance Company

💛 FASTSIGNS Karel rocks!

💛 South Central Bank, Inc. Supporting families with bags from the beginning!

💛 cabanacookiebg thank you for keeping us fed!

Your generosity helped us bring this vision to life, and we are so grateful for your investment in an inclusive community!

And to everyone I didn’t personally get to meet or thank, please know that I TRIED! 😂 I had almost made my way around to introduce myself to everyone when I realized the event was ending! Maybe that’s our sign that NEXT YEAR WE NEED TO MAKE IT LONGER! 😉🎃

There was a moment when I looked out across the crowd and just took it all in. The costumes, the laughter, the excitement, the families, the volunteers, and the overwhelming support from our community. In that moment, I was reminded exactly why we do what we do.

Inclusion isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something we create TOGETHER. 💜

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU, Bowling Green, for showing up, showing out, and helping us make this event bigger and better than we ever imagined!

📸 PHOTO OVERLOAD ALERT! We’re sharing 60 photos capturing just a little of the magic from this incredible evening! Feel free to tag yourselves, your friends, and your favorite vendors!

We WILL see y’all NEXT YEAR! And something tells me we’re going to need even more candy! 🍬🤣

With a very full heart, THANK YOU! 💜
