Friends of Vintage Flight

Friends of Vintage Flight Friends of Jenny has expanded in its support of early American aviation with the acquisition of the only American produced WW1 warplane, the DH-4 Liberty

Friends of Jenny, LLC., is a non-profit (501C3) organization founded to bring the early American Aviation story to the general public in the form of a hands-on, flying 1917 Curtiss JN-4 Biplane. This aircraft, N38262, will be managed, maintained, and flown by FOJ. FOJ consists of an all-volunteer group of aviators and aviation aficionados, who have worked most diligently to restore and bring to fl

ight status 38262. FOJ provides educational background information, materials, and articles to community groups across the mid-west and south-eastern United States in conjunction with appearances of the aircraft. Educational topics associated with this important aviation icon include, early American entrepreneurs such as Glenn Curtiss and the Wright Brothers, principals of early aviation flight, famous aviators who learned to fly in the Jenny such as Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart, the birth of the U.S. Mail Service and much more. Funding and financial support of FOJ is used solely to support the mission. A ground crew as well as a flight crew accompanies all travel associated with the aircraft. Complementary print and visual materials will be made available to all media outlets in conjunction with each community visit. FOJ is a 501C3 Kentucky based non-profit corporation, headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Veterans Day.
Lest we forget...

On this Veterans Day, this letter by a young aviator to his mother in 1917...

“The American Spirit”
Oh! How I wish so much you could have been on this ride... flying close to one of these wisps so intangible in substance and yet so clothed in color, I felt the impulse to put out my hand and touch it... It seemed like riding in a mythical chariot of the gods, racing along the vast infinitely white field stretching off endlessly in every direction.
— Brigg Adams 1917

We were so inspired, we flew this mission to honour and remember! The rainbow around the Jenny’s shadow in the clouds we look on as God agrees.

Our group formed 8 years ago to bring to all who had the interest to look up into the skies above and witness America’s first aeroplanes in flight... as flown by those early military aviators... to Honor and Remember their sacrifices. And on this Memorial Day we add one of our own... Naval Aviator Terry Richardson. Terry was with us in the beginning and we are with him now. We Salute you Terry. 👍🏻

We enhanced one of the videos from yesterday of a high speed taxi, note tail lifting off. We had 10kt crosswind and the ole girl stood her ground. Wouldn’t have happened in our Jenny.
