Design by Van Meter & Slavey, the Bowling Green chapter of the Kentucky Mountain Bike Association, and the BGRF. Bicycle Pump Track

BMX and mountain bike users will benefit from

this hybrid course, which is a series of rollers and raised curves designed in a loop to be ridden continuously to provide a intense cardiovascular workout and develop technical bike skills. Design by the Bowling Green Chapter of the Kentucky Mountain Bike Association and the BGRF. Rock Climbing Bouldering Area

Three to six climbing boulders from eight to ten feet high will be created out of concrete. These boulders will provide an intense strength workout for novice to expert level climbers and provide an excellent facility for people to learn techniques for this exciting sport. Design by the BGRF. Whitewater Boating Course

Four class II to IV whitewater play features adjacent to the River Walk. These features will provide boaters from the local area and general region with a place to hone their skills in a low consequence environment, and will provide a competition venue for advanced level boaters. Regional fire departments and Warren County Rescue will utilize the course for swift water rescue training. Conceptual plan by Gary Lacey, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Warren County Greenways Commission and Bowling Green Parks & Rec. Warren County Greenways Riverwalk

Pedestrian walkway along the north bank of the Barren River with outstanding aesthetic qualities. The Riverwalk will connect existing Greenways and improve visitor safety. In addition, this new access will provide outstanding fishing opportunities. Finally, the Riverwalk will drastically improve erosion control on the steep bank into the Barren River. Wildlife Habitat

Quail habitat has been set aside with support provided by Southern Kentucky Quail Forever.

(Daviess County, KY) Another new law in Kentucky going into effect starting July 14 (Today).

Drivers will now be required to give bicycles at least 3 feet of space when passing.

You probably see cyclists on the roads often. And each time you pass them, you had a choice.

"Do I wait until the oncoming traffic is clear and allow that three foot minimum? Or do I risk the life of that cyclist and squeeze by them in the lane?" Paula Roberts an Avid cyclist in Daviess county said.

But now, there won't be a choice for drivers in Kentucky. Drivers must leave at least 3 feet in between them and the cyclist when passing.

"That 3 foot rule is gonna be a good thing for us because it does give us the law to share the road," Larry Myles the owner of Be Real Sports said.

Roberts says she has friends that have been hit by cars on the road before.

"I think they're just not aware of how dangerous it is to pass a cyclist in the lane," she said.

And Myles says he's seen it first hand...

"Way too close to the whole entire group who we were riding with," he said. "And that was probably the most fear and closest that I've ever had because it was really close."

But both agree the best way to make sure cyclist stay safe is getting the word out.

"We'll see how the 3 foot rule plays about in the state of Kentucky," Myles said. "There's probably gonna be the biggest thing is the education gap to the driver."

Because it could save a life.

"It's common sense," Roberts said. "It just makes good sense. And it's gonna mean the world of difference for you know, my family, my kids cycle, my husband cycles, I cycle."
