✨ MEET HOLLY! ✨

We’re excited to introduce another amazing member of the ACTION team — Holly Carpenter! 🌤️

“My name is Holly Carpenter and I have spent the last 20 years serving children and families. I graduated from WKU with a Bachelors Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences and a Masters Degree in Special Education. I have spent the majority of my career working with individuals with disabilities, including 12 years in public education, and the last 2 1/2 years working as a behavior specialist. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 20 years, and have 2 sons. We love to travel and take adventures!”

Holly will be supporting our families through Targeted Case Management while also jumping into our recreation and wellness programming — which means you may see her helping families connect to resources one day and hanging out with our kiddos at a group or activity the next! Holly brings a heart for helping people, a willingness to jump in wherever she’s needed, and exactly the kind of energy we want around our kids and families. We’re so excited to have her as part of the ACTION family! 🫶🏽

A little look into our after-school program! 🌤️

Mr. Dylan spent some time with our kids talking about self-esteem and emotional regulation—helping them learn how to understand their feelings, build confidence, and handle those big emotions in healthier ways.

These are the kinds of skills we want our kids practicing now so they can carry them with them as they grow. 🤗

🎨✨ ART PLAY STUDIO IS HERE! ✨🎨

For children who have experienced trauma, having choices and a sense of control can be incredibly important. Trauma can leave children feeling like things happen to them without their input, so Art Play Studio is intentionally designed to give kids opportunities to choose, create, explore, and participate at their own pace. 🎨

There’s no pressure to make the “right” thing, participate the same way as everyone else, or even love the activity we have planned that day. The goal is to create a safe space where kids can build relationships, express themselves, and experience the confidence that comes from having a voice and a choice.

🖌️ Each session may look a little different—painting, slime, clay, Play-Doh, sensory art, crafts, creative play, and MORE!

🌈 All ages welcome!
📅 September 10
⏰ 5:00–6:00 PM
📍 1719 Ashley Circle
🔄 Dates may vary, but we hope to facilitate this group other Thursday

Art Play Studio is a therapeutic, trauma-informed program. Participation requires consent for therapy services and completion of an initial intake with a clinician. Additional treatment recommendations may be made based on each child’s individual needs.

🖼️ Sometimes healing looks like talking. Sometimes it looks like getting messy, making choices, creating something, and simply getting to be a kid.

🏀 PLAY IT FORWARD IS BACK! 🏀

We’re kicking off August 25th from 5:00–6:00 PM at The Village Center — starting with Basketball Madness!

Play It Forward actually began two years ago with funding from the Kentucky Colonel, which helped us bring this idea to life. We’re so excited to continue building on that foundation and creating a space where kids can learn, connect, and grow through activities they genuinely enjoy. 🌤️

Because Play It Forward is about so much more than sports.

This therapeutic recreational program uses things kids already love to help them practice skills they need in real life — communication, problem-solving, teamwork, respect, handling frustration, good sportsmanship, confidence, and working through challenges with others.

☀️ In the warmer months, we’ll focus more on sports, outdoor games, and recreation.

❄️ As it gets colder, we’ll bring things indoors with board games, video games, group challenges, and other activities kids enjoy.

The activity may change, but the goal stays the same: helping kids build real-life skills through connection, play, and experiences that feel natural and enjoyable.

And your child doesn’t have to love basketball to join us! Even if basketball isn’t really their thing, consider getting them involved from the beginning. Being part of the group, joining the conversations, building relationships, and practicing these skills is really what Play It Forward is all about.

📅 August 25th
⏰ 5:00–6:00 PM
📍 The Village Center | 901 Beauty Ave.

🌈 BIG FEELINGS ARE NORMAL — LET’S EXPLORE THEM TOGETHER! 🌈

We’re excited to introduce Feeling Explorers, a therapeutic group designed especially for children ages 5–7, led by Lillien Hudson, CSW! 🧠🌤️

Through fun, age-appropriate activities, crafts, and conversations, children will have opportunities to:
✨ Learn about different emotions
✨ Practice healthy ways to express big feelings
✨ Build confidence and self-awareness
✨ Learn how to communicate what they’re feeling
✨ Connect with other children in a supportive, trauma-informed environment

📅 Every 2nd Saturday of the month
🚀 Beginning September 12, 2026
👧🏽🧒🏼 Ages 5–7
🏢 1719 Ashley Circle, Bowling Green, KY

Because this is a therapeutic program, participating children must consent to therapy services and complete an initial intake with a clinician. Additional treatment recommendations may be made based on each child’s individual needs.

💙 Your child doesn’t have to have all the words for their feelings yet—that’s what we’re here to help them explore!
