The BSA National Religious Relationships Committee is honored to announce that former First Lady of the United States, Laura Bush, will be the speaker at this year's Duty to God Breakfast at the National Annual Meetings of the Boy Scouts of America.

For those attending the National Annual Meetings, this is one event you do not want to miss. At the breakfast we will also be presenting religious emblems, the National Duty to God Award, and much more.

Laura Bush, former First Lady of the United States, is an advocate for literacy, healthcare, and human rights. During her remarks Mrs. Bush will discuss her time as First Lady and the role of faith throughout her life.

After leaving the White House, President and Mrs. Bush founded the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. The Center is home to the Bush Presidential Museum and Library and the George W. Bush Institute, a public policy center established to solve today’s most pressing challenges by developing leaders, advancing policy, and taking action.

The author of the bestselling memoir, Spoken From The Heart, Mrs. Bush also founded both the Texas Book Festival and the National Book Festival in Washington D.C.

Born in Midland, Texas to Jenna and Harold Welch, Mrs. Bush holds a degree in education and a master’s degree in library science. She taught in public schools in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, and worked as a public school librarian. In 1977, she married George W. Bush.

President and Mrs. Bush are the parents of twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna, son-in-law, Henry Hager, and proud grandparents of granddaughters Margaret Laura “Mila” and Poppy Louise Hager. The Bush family also includes two cats, Bob and Bernadette, and a dog Freddy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bush family with the recent passing of former First Lady of the United States, Barbara Bush. 😇
