May is Older Americans Month and the 2025 theme is, “Flip the Script on Aging”, focuses on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and dispel misconceptions. Help us celebrate by considering volunteering for the Barren River Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. If you would like more information about volunteering in our area, please contact Assistant Ombudsman, Laura Burgan at 270-600-3728.

The Older Americans Act requires Ombudsman programs to support the development of resident councils. Resident councils can play a crucial role in voicing concerns, requesting improvements, supporting new residents, and supporting facility efforts to ensure the highest quality care and life possible. This page contains resources for Ombudsman programs to share with consumers on resident councils.
