Have you ever wondered how a stupa is built, and why?

Stupas are not just monuments. In the Buddhist tradition, they are considered living symbols of awakening, healing, and protection built with intention, prayer, and precise symbolism at every stage.

At Diamond Mountain, we’re home to a growing stupa path, The Path of Hope and Healing, a quiet walking path dedicated to the Seven Medicine Buddhas - each representing a different aspect of healing, balance, and the relief of suffering.

We currently have two stupas on the path, and construction on the third has already started in April 2026.

The Medicine Buddhas are traditionally associated with healing - not only of the body, but of the mind, emotions, and the deeper causes of suffering. Building a stupa is considered an act of service, creating a place where prayers, intention, and benefit extend outward to all beings.

🦇🌵 The Bat Garden is taking root. 🌵🦇

Back in September, we planted 160 agave plants, the preferred nectar source of the endangered Mexican long-nosed bat, with the hope that they would grow strong enough to support life.

We’re happy to share that the young plants are doing well. Thanks to steady care, generous rainfall, and a lot of hands-on love, the agaves have rooted beautifully.

This garden exists because of donors who gave with intention, volunteers who showed up with care, and partners and participants who believe that protecting life starts with small, steady actions.

In the dharma, we’re reminded that protecting life doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like planting, watering, waiting… and trusting conditions to come together.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this possible, for the bats, for the land, and for the future beings who will benefit from what’s growing here now.

🐾Some days at Diamond Mountain the wildlife just… shows up.
This little visitor is a *coatimundi* - one of our curious neighbors who wanders through from time to time.

✅ Fun fact: coatimundis (or coatis) are part of the raccoon family and are known for their long, expressive tails and playful personalities. They’re incredibly social animals and often travel in groups called bands, which feels oddly fitting for a place rooted in community and connection.

🙏🏻 Moments like this remind us why we protect the land the way we do. When the environment is cared for, life feels safe enough to come close, and we are gifted with an opportunity to be a part of it.

✅ One of the things people love most about staying at Diamond Mountain is that each cottage has its own personality. You can explore them on our website and choose the one that feels like the right fit for you.

🍀Cottage 7 is a favorite for those who want to feel both held and close to nature.

Set above a shady grove of trees and tucked at the end of its own quiet road, this two-building cottage offers privacy, ease, and a deep sense of calm, while still being centrally located on the land.

There’s a private picnic area nearby, access to hiking trails, and space to simply step outside and breathe.

🏠The main building is a well-insulated studio with a queen bed, full kitchen, and bathroom, designed to stay cool in summer and warm in winter.
Two patios wrap the space: a sunroom with open views, and an enclosed porch perfect for resting or outdoor meals.

Just steps away, a separate, spacious practice building provides a dedicated place for meditation, yoga, or movement, quiet, comfortable, and secluded.

The cottage also has access to a wash, where we’re currently completing a raised platform for meals, practice, or time spent immersed in the landscape.
