Looking back on another campus visit during National Campus Safety Awareness Month!

We recently visited Trinity Washington University to introduce ASK DC to two classes, connecting with over 40 students. We also shared what coalition work looks like and highlighted some of our coalition members and stakeholders that students may already be familiar with (hint: Trinity is one of them!).

Students were highly engaged and asked thoughtful questions about finding support in DC. Afterward, a few students stayed behind to continue the conversation, and we had the chance to snap a small group photo! 📸

Last Friday, we teamed up with Georgetown Sexual Assault Peer Educators (SAPE) and gugs_georgetown to table on campus. Students stopped by for a burger and left knowing where to find support through ASK DC.

With September being National Campus Safety Awareness Month, we’re so glad to share resources and start conversations with the Georgetown community and all our campuses in the region. Whether you need support, want to help a friend, or want to learn more about healthy relationships, you’ll find it all at askdc.org!

Did you know: Today marks one year of ASK DC 💛

One year ago, we relaunched ASK DC (Assault. Services. Knowledge. DC) — a confidential, safe, and free platform connecting the DC community with more than 110 sexual assault resources.

Since then, we’re proud to report more than 18,000 visitors to askdc.org as it continues to serve as a starting point for survivors, loved ones, service providers, and anyone seeking information and support. What began as a launch has become a growing resource for our community and we’re so grateful to everyone who has helped make that possible.

“Loved networking and connecting with colleagues.” 💭

That’s what one attendee told us after DCCESV’s inaugural Beyond Compliance: Higher Education Sexual Misconduct Response & Prevention Summit – two days, nine expert-led sessions spanning everything from trauma-informed interviewing to policy alignment and campus-wide bystander intervention, and a room full of higher ed professionals building the kind of cross-institution community that makes this work sustainable.

Thank you to everyone who showed up ready to go beyond compliance and toward safer, more supportive campuses. 🩵

In August, DCCESV joined advocates, survivors, and leaders from across the country in our hometown, Washington, DC, for the 2026 National Sexual Assault Conference (NSAC) 👥

Held under the theme “United in Purpose, Committed to Action,” NSAC brings together the sexual violence prevention and response community to share knowledge, strengthen connections, and advance meaningful change for survivors.

We were proud to have our Executive Director, Rachel, welcome attendees to the District during the opening plenary, setting the stage for three days of connection and collective action.

Adam, our Director of Strategy and Capacity Building, also took the stage to share how ASK DC is using technology to strengthen access to survivor supports and make it easier for survivors to find the resources they need 🌐

Shoutout to our members DC Forensic Nurse Examiners, Official DCR**eCrisisCenter, DeafDAWNinDC, , MCSR (Formerly Men Can Stop R**e), The Person Center, and Rights4Girls for presenting and exhibiting throughout the three-day conference!

The Red Zone is the time period from move-in to Thanksgiving break when over 50% of sexual assaults occur on campus.
