Early voting is underway in DC ahead of Election Day next week! We asked the DC Independent At-Large and the Mayoral candidates how they would lead the District’s response to sexual violence at our Ending Sexual Violence in DC Forum last month. Swipe for a preview of their responses and rewatch the entire live event on our YouTube channel at the link in our bio.

Civic engagement is essential to a strong and responsive community, and we encourage everyone who is eligible to make a plan to vote in the upcoming election. For official voting information, key dates, and ballot guidance, please visit the DC Board of Elections.

For , we’re going back just a few weeks to when recognized April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and honored the impactful work of The Person Center () and the DC Coalition to End Sexual Violence.

We are proud to be recognized through this proclamation, which calls on all DC residents to support survivors and help prevent and end sexual assault, abuse, harassment, and trafficking.

Special thanks to and for their continued support. Together, we’re building a safer, more just DC for all. 🩵

Denim was everywhere last week and we loved it 👖💙

Huge thanks to for inviting us to wrap up our SAAM campus tour at GW’s Denim Day! We had such a great time tabling alongside coalition partners and **ecrisiscenter, as well as meeting the amazing student organizers and SASA leaders who made it all happen ✨

Nothing better than spending the day in community, sharing ASK DC, and connecting with students and staff!

Did you know that, in addition to Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April was also Second Chance Month?

Last week, the US Attorney’s Office and the Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School hosted their second annual SAAM panel, “Knowledge. Healing. Power: Advancing Awareness and Strengthening Communities.” Representing our Coalition member , MCSR Executive Director Neil Irvin joined three other panelists to speak on primary prevention, bystander empowerment, and why r**e is a men’s issue. From there, it was all about the resource fair – so many great conversations at our DCCESV table! We left inspired by the students and the life-changing work happening at the Academy.

Thank you to and for having us!

Last week, we continued our annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month outreach with the DC United and Women United Employee Resource Group team at Denim & Donuts! This marks the third year of our partnership, and we’re so grateful to keep building on this work together.

We kicked things off by introducing the Coalition, then walked the team through the ASK DC platform and how it connects people to support and resources across the District. To close out, we showcased the ease of using the platform with a digital scavenger hunt for resources and tools available through askdc.org — complete with soccer stress balls for the winners and donuts for everyone! Thank you to for having us!

NEW: Tune in next Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on our DCCESV YouTube channel for a live, virtual candidate forum. This event will convene candidates for Mayor and the Independent At-Large Councilmember special election for a substantive discussion on policies and priorities related to sexual violence, survivor services, prevention, and community safety.

Sexual violence remains a significant issue in our city and we’ve seen the District make important progress through collaboration among stakeholders, including DC government agencies and the DC Council, alongside our membership. This forum will provide an opportunity for candidates to share how they would build on this foundation to further strengthen prevention efforts, improve survivor services, and advance accountability.

RSVP at the link in our bio for this unique opportunity to hear the candidates directly address DC’s community of service providers, advocates, and professionals working to meet the needs of sexual violence victim-survivors, as well as survivors themselves.
