The I Am Kept Foundation, Inc., is a nonprofit organization founded and established to provide scholarships, resources, and support to children, youth, and young adults (in college) who have lost a parent due to death; and to provide resources and support to their families. The I Am Kept Foundation, Inc., also seeks to build a community that serves and encourages students who are coping with life

after the death of a parent and help them to continue with their studies and educational paths, as well as extracurricular activities. The I Am kept Foundation, Inc., was founded in honor and loving memory of "Eddie", Graham E. Hayes was a kind, loving, jovial person, with a big heart. He truly believed in trying to help others in need and he went out of his way to do just that. His children were in the 7th, 10th, and 12th grades when he was tragically murdered. Knowing the challenges that surviving spouses and students face after the loss of a parent, the Hayes family wants to give back and to help others that unfortunately face similar circumstances as they know Mr. Hayes would want to them to do.

I want to say thank you to everyone who came out to Top Golf with us this past Saturday! One of the highlights of the event was being able to meet one of the 2024 Graham E Hayes II Memorial Scholarship recipients, Morayo Akinyonde, in person!

Morayo is a sophomore at my Alma Mater, Howard University l, in the Collrge if Arts and Sciences Honors Program with a 4.0 GPA. She is majoring in Health Science and minoring in Biology. In her essay, she indicated that she wants to honor her father by starting a non profit organization to help pregnant women and children in Lagos, Nigeria where she is from. We know that our work is not in vain because through this event we were able to connect Morayo to Graham E. Hayes III’s girlfriend, Lola, who is also from Lagos Nigeria. Morayo also got to meet several students who are going through or have gone through what she is facing including my next door “neighbor son”, Brandon Manor, a 4th year medical student at Howard University Medical School, where Morayo hopes to go next, Jasmyne Smith the MBA, Allahna Awad Ross (Mrs.), a Chemical Engineering student, Justin Dublin, a first year psychology major at Prince George’s County Community Collrge, Jessica Harris and Jasmine M Hayes, both UMES graduates, Graham III and Lola, both attended Morgan State University, and ZoeZo J. Hayes, with degrees in forensic science and now studying criminal justice. So many connections that this could not have been a mistake!

I want to thank my forever neighbors Kenny and LaShawn Manor, Jackquline Smith Wilcher, Wendy Wright Johnson, Miriamm McKinney, and Stacey Mac for coming out.
I also want to acknowledge those who weren’t able to make it, but purchased tickets to sponsor students including Danielle Estrada, Veronica R. Hill, and Sylvester McArthur.

I want to give a shout out to Andrea Jones, one of our Board Members, for making the event arrangements with Topgolf.

Additionally, I want to give the Edith P. Wright Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., a shout out as our partner non profit organization which helped to make the Top Golf event possible.
