Afo-a-Kom USA is a Nonprofit Cultural and Development Association of the Kom people in the United States of America that initiates or supports Ideas, Projects and Programs for the betterment of Komrades, particularly in the homestead in Kom.’ Afo-a-Kom USA is a Nonprofit Cultural and Development Association of the Kom people in the United States of America that initiates or supports Ideas, Project

Created by Kom people living in the United States, the organization was formalized in June 2004 at the inaugural Kom convention in Washington DC, electing a pioneer executive board led by a President. The National Executive Board works collaboratively with leaders of local chapters across States with agglomerations of Komrades. Six active chapters currently number a rough estimate of five hundred registered members unevenly distributed in Dallas, Appalachian, Houston, Minneapolis, New York and Arizona. The youngest chapter at the end of 2016 is the At Large chapter. It is for members who are not resident in States with active Chapters. Active chapters act as support pillars to individual members and are the driving force of the national organization and the centers from where development projects are nurtured through ongoing interactions with local communities and organizations in Kom. Afoakom USA has its annual convention in Mid June and rotates among chapter States. Conventions are a premier lieu wherein Komrades in North America celebrate Kom culture and Kom children meet and get to know one another. It is at the Komvention that the General Assembly raises the most of its operating funds and decides on which projects to fund in the course of the year.

This platform represents an important step forward in strengthening transparency, communication, and engagement within AfoakomUSA. It will also position our organization to better connect with external partners and sponsors by showcasing our work, impact, and vision for supporting Kom communities. I encourage every member to visit the website today, explore its key sections, and stay connected.

While attending the Kom Canada Komvention, the Afo-a-Kom USA Exco team also seized this golden opportunity to crown the Komvention by celebrating one of their very own Dr. Ngola Cyprain, who just stepped into his glorious 6th floor. In a heartwarming show of unity and love, they proudly joined their Canada family to sing birthday songs and honor this remarkable milestone. Afo-a-Kom USA Shines at the Kom Canada Komvention! 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦

This past weekend, Afo-a-Kom USA made a bold and triumphant entry at the much-anticipated Kom Canada Komvention, and what an unforgettable experience it was!

The vibes were pro max, the reception was warm, and the representation? Absolutely phenomenal. Our ever-dedicated President, Bobe Sangtum Leonard Waingeh, led the delegation with pride, grace, and unwavering commitment. This marked his very first international appearance as President, and he did not disappoint. His leadership presence lit up the convention, and his message of unity and collaboration deeply resonated with all.

Bobe Sangtum has truly set the tone for a new era, one of strong external relations, intentional diplomacy, and cultural pride. He was accompanied by a dynamic team of exco members and loyal members of Afo-a-Kom USA, all of whom carried the Kom spirit with dignity and joy.

As we return home energized and inspired, we remain focused on the road ahead. The countdown to our own grand celebration has officially begun. Afo-a-Kom USA Convention: Minnesota 2026 promises to be one for the books!
