🚨 CRP CUTTING OPENS THIS WEEKEND 🚨

As CRP cutting begins this weekend, please take extra precautions to help prevent wildfires. 🔥

🌾 Check weather and field conditions before cutting
🚜 Keep equipment clean and properly maintained
🧯 Have fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment readily available
💧 Keep water trucks full and ready to respond
👀 Watch closely for sparks, hot equipment, and signs of fire
💨 Avoid cutting during high winds or extreme fire conditions when possible
📞 If a fire starts, call 911 immediately and provide your exact location

A few extra minutes of preparation can make a huge difference in preventing a small spark from becoming a large fire.

Stay safe, stay alert, and help us prevent fires this CRP season! 🚒🔥

Join the Bowdle Fire Department on Main Street after the parade on Saturday, June 27th, for our Dunk Tank Fundraiser benefiting the Bowdle Public Library!

Three members of the Bowdle Volunteer Fire Department (Andrew, Cody, and Barb) attended the South Dakota State Fire School in Watertown on June 11-13, joining firefighters from across the state for a weekend of learning, training, and professional development.

Courses attended by them included Advanced Vehicle Extrication, No Gimmicks Handline Management, Grain Entrapment and Rescue, and Initial Fire Investigation for First Responders. These classes provided valuable hands-on experience and knowledge that will help strengthen our department’s ability to respond safely and effectively to emergencies in our community.

We are proud of our firefighters for investing their time and effort into continuing education. The skills and experience gained through training opportunities like State Fire School help ensure we are prepared to answer the call when our community needs us most.

Thank you to these dedicated volunteers for representing Bowdle and for their continued commitment to serving others. 🔥

🚩🔥 RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK 🔥🚩

Dry grass 🌾 + low humidity + strong winds 🌬️ = dangerous fire conditions across our area.

With conditions this dry, even a small spark can turn into a fast-moving grass fire in minutes.

⚠️ If you have burned anything in the past several days — including burn piles, fire pits, or barrels — please check them again. Ashes and hot spots can stay hot longer than expected and may reignite in these windy conditions.

Please help reduce the fire risk by:
🚫 Avoiding outdoor burning
🚬 Properly disposing of ci******es
🚗 Avoiding parking on dry grass
🔗 Securing trailer chains to prevent sparks
🛠️ Using caution with equipment that creates heat or sparks

This is not the week for “it’ll probably be okay.” 😅

Keep those water tanks full and the discs ready to go just incase!

On April 13th, members of the North Central Fire Chiefs Association gathered for a valuable day of training. Area fire departments were invited to participate in smoke house training exercises, followed by a controlled live burn of the structure.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the training a success. Opportunities like this allow departments to sharpen skills, strengthen teamwork, and improve preparedness for real-world emergencies.
