Get out and train! Crews got out this morning to do some pump training with one of our newest operators. Topics covered included pressure governor operation, pump panel overview, attack line selection, pumping multiple lines, pressurized hydrant operation and securing a water supply while flowing multiple lines on tank water.

This also gave crews multiple evolutions to train on stretching, advancing and flowing all of our attack lines. A job well done with our newest operator!

Weather update for this afternoon/evening. June 18th. There is a Tornado watch in effect until 7:00 pm. Please see the brief from the National weather service.
What is the difference between a Tornado Watch and a Tornado Warning issued by the National Weather Service?

Tornado Watch

Be Prepared! Tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. Review and discuss your emergency plans and check supplies and your safe room. Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or you suspect a tornado is approaching. Acting early helps to save lives! Watches are issued by the Storm Prediction Center for counties where tornadoes may occur. The watch area is typically large, covering numerous counties or even states.

Tornado Warning

Take Action! A tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. There is imminent danger to life and property. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a mobile home, a vehicle, or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Warnings are issued by your local forecast office. Warnings typically encompass a much smaller area (around the size of a city or small county) that may be impacted by a tornado identified by a forecaster on Radar or by a trained spotter/law enforcement who is watching the storm.

Introducing Bow Fire Department’s New Forestry Unit

The Bow Fire Department is proud to introduce our newest Forestry Unit, a project that demonstrates the dedication, ingenuity, and commitment of our members to serving the community.

Rather than purchasing a commercially built apparatus, members of the department designed, fabricated, and assembled this unit in-house. Through hundreds of hours of work, our personnel transformed a standard chassis into a fully capable wildland firefighting vehicle while saving Bow taxpayers more than $100,000.

This project would not have been possible without the support of several outstanding local businesses that provided materials, equipment, fabrication, graphics, and expertise along the way. We are grateful for their partnership and encourage everyone to support these businesses that support public safety:

🔹 Grappone Ford
🔹 Automotive Consultants
🔹 HEWS Truck Bodies and Equipment
🔹 Maineline Overland
🔹 Berube’s Truck Accessories & Graphics
🔹 Plastech
🔹 Concord Awning
🔹 Philbrook Metal Manufacturing
🔹 W.D. Perkins Pump Specialists

📸 The photos below highlight these valued partners and showcase the finished product that will serve Bow and our neighboring communities for years to come.

This Forestry Unit represents more than just a new truck—it is a testament to the skill of our members, the generosity of local businesses, and what can be accomplished through collaboration and innovation.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a reality.
