I just sent the following email:

-Hi,

I am wanting to let you know about events we will need information on soon.

1. We will be having a campout on Sept. 12-14th at Davis Creek. We will be hosting the Webelos and will most likely be going to the State Park Stables to work on the horsemanship merit badge. I do not have an exact cost for that as the stable has not yet replied. Without the stables this campout is at $20. I know an hour ride costs $40 for an hour, but I do not know if that is different for the horsemanship option. I will send out a permission slip with exact information as I get it. I REALLY NEED AN IDEA OF HOW MANY ARE ATTENDING so I can get an accurate estimate, so if you could send your scout with a yes or no on this campout, that would be great!

2.The troop wanted to go to the Fall Camporee Oct. 10-12 at Rainbow Scout Reservation (our council). The cost will be $40 for scouts $33 for adults (no patch/ supplies for the events). This is just an FYI- I will send more information out when I get it.

3. The troop wanted to go to Eagle Cave. We need solid numbers by the end of September (we can't change them after that so if you say you are going, you will not be able to get any money back). They will be arrive Friday night and have 2 nights in the caves. They provide all food for the weekend and some activities as well. This cost will be $90. It is pricier, so we are letting you know now. WE WILL NEED A COUNT BY SEPTEMBER, SO IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN- TELL US ON MONDAY!

I will be sending a calendar out soon with all the dates we have.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi,

As people have asked, I have the following people going on the train ride tomorrow:

Steffans- 6
DeCarlos-5 (They have an extra ticket)
Richardsons-4
Damons-4
Bella
Koerners-5
Gianna and mom
Dain and parent
Lucius and parent
Phoenix

PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE CHURC AT 10:45 AM already having used the bathroom, so we can get there early enough as they recommend!!!!!

Here is info I just got in an email from the Railway Museum:

WHERE:
The train departs from, and returns to, the Illinois Railway Museum at 7000 Olson Road, Union, IL 60180. You'll board the train at our East Union Depot, at the north end of the museum. Please note that this event does not take place at Union Station in Chicago, IL. Parking is free and is available at Gate 3. A map of the museum grounds is at www.irm.org/plan

WHEN: Make sure you arrive at the museum at least 30-45 minutes before the time on your ticket! That time is when your train departs the depot, but it can take 10 minutes or more to get from the museum entrance to the boarding area. We recommend arriving at the boarding area about 20 minutes before your train departure time. Each trip is open seating, but trip times are assigned, so you must ride at the trip time printed on your ticket. The train ride takes about 40 minutes.

Most of the cars on the train will feature a holiday-themed light and sound show. If you are sensitive to flashing lights, please ride on the silver/red/blue car, #7658, which will not have the light and sound show but instead features traditional lights and decorations. This year's train is not wheelchair-accessible, but if you need assistance climbing the steps into the train, just ask one of our volunteers.

WHAT: You may arrive at the museum anytime before your scheduled trip on the date shown on your ticket (make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before the time on your ticket). Before and after your train trip with Santa, you may enjoy unlimited trolley rides, visit our train display buildings, see the holiday light displays around the museum grounds, and explore our Model Railroad Exhibit. A laser projection will light up Barn 3 each day, and a fireworks show will take place on Friday, November 29th, Saturday, November 30th, and Sunday, December 1st at 5:45 pm. And new for 2024 is the Barn 6 "Lite Rail Extravaganza," which will be available for both daytime and nighttime viewing. These additional attractions are all included with your ticket.

FAQs: Restrooms are located in the East Union Depot and in the Diner Annex, which is the brick building near the museum entrance at the corner of Depot Street and Central Avenue adjoining the 1930s roadside diner. There are no restrooms on the train. The train ride with Santa, trolleys, bathrooms, East Union Depot, and Model Railroad Exhibit are all heated, but the train display buildings and holiday light display areas are not, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

And in the spirit of the holiday season, we also invite you to bring non-perishable food items to contribute to our food collection box, which will be available at the event. All donations will go toward supporting the M.O.R.E. Center.

For the train on Saturday: we are meeting at the church around 10:45 am. It is around an hour and 40 minutes to get there. Our train ride is at 1:30. The train ride is around 40 minutes. There is food at the railroad museum- hamburgers and such. Money for food would be good. We do have a few scouts that will need to ride with others. I have the tickets for everyone. Everything is primarily outside, so dress warm/ in layers so you can stay warm/ not overheat.

I just sent the following email:
Hi,

On Friday, we will be leaving from St. George Church (where we meet) at 5:00 pm. Please make sure that your child has eaten dinner before they arrive. It is about a 3 hour drive plus a time change, so they will need to have eaten. Two leaders are going there early so that the scouts do not need to set up in the dark.

Scouts need to pack efficiently as the space for gear may be a bit limited. That being said, they should have layers packed for warmth. Right now it is supposed to be mid-60's during the day, but the nighttime temperatures will be quite a bit cooler (40's, maybe 30's). So they should have a decent sleeping bag, but bring a fleece in case they get cold. They should have a hat and gloves. The hat may be useful to keep warm at night. They should have 2 pairs of shoes; one should be comfortable for hiking. A day pack for the hike would be good as well, as they will be carrying a sandwich.. If anyone needs to do the trail meal on a backpacking stove, they should bring that with as well. If they have a small chair for the campfire at night, they can bring it, but if there is not enough room for them, they will be sent back home with whoever is dropping them off.

If you have any questions, please ask.
