Please join us in congratulating NASJA board member John W. Lundin, who has been voted into the All Americans Ski Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum!

John will be inducted this August in Red Wing, Minnesota — and what makes this recognition especially meaningful is that he is being honored as a historian, not an athlete. His work has helped preserve and share the story of ski jumping’s deep roots in America, Norwegian-American identity, and the growth of skiing across the West.

John is the author of Ski Jumping in Washington State: A Nordic Tradition, which accompanied two major ski jumping exhibits he helped create: “Sublime Sights: Ski Jumping and Nordic America” at Seattle’s National Nordic Museum and “Skiers in Flight: Sun Valley’s Ski Jumping Roots” at the Sun Valley History Museum.

His writing, research, exhibits, and years of work preserving ski jumping history have helped ensure this important part of skiing’s past is not forgotten.

In accordance with NASJA's bylaws, nominations are now open for two Vice President positions on the NASJA board. Elected board members serve one-year terms. If you would like to nominate yourself or another NASJA member, please submit a nomination using the form below by May 28th.

"U.S. ski areas recorded an estimated 52.6 million skier visits in the 2025-26 season, down roughly 14 percent and 9 million visits year over year, according to preliminary data from the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA).

The season ranked 32nd out of 48 on record, with poor snow conditions across the West driving the decline. In contrast, regions east of the Rockies—particularly the Northeast and Southeast—posted strong results that helped offset losses."
