Join us this Thursday, March 26th for a time to be in community 🤎

In moments like these it can be difficult to find joy and rest. Especially as we witness the ongoing oppression happening in our communities and beyond. That weight can lead us to burnout, but you’re not alone in feeling it.

Come and make some bracelets, paint on canvases, and a have a conversation around the importance of community while connecting, unwinding and creating joy.

This space is a reminder that rest is also an act of resistance!✨✊🏾

We hope to see you there!

In spring 1974, CU Boulder announced cuts to programs that supported minoritized students. In protest, UMAS occupied Temporary Building 1 (TB1) for 18 days, demanding accountability and the removal of UMAS EOP director Joe Franco and asst. director Paul Acosta. The two seemed to serve the administration and oust the student activists.

During the occupation, two car bombs killed six Chicanx student activists. On May 27, Neva Romero, Una Jaakola, and Reyes Martinez were killed at Chautauqua Park. Less than 48 hours later, Heriberto Terán, Florencio Granado, and Francisco Dougherty were killed near a Burger King on 28th Street. Antonio Alcantar survived but was seriously injured.

The bombings did not receive thorough investigative attention from the police or the FBI. For 51 years, family and community members have continued to honor and uplift their stories and legacy.

Come together with us this Saturday May 31st to commemorate their legacy and enduring spirit of resistance that continues to inspire generations after.

✊🏽¡QUE VIVAN LOS SEIS Y LOS SÍMBOLOS DE RESISTENCIA!✊🏽
