We proudly invest in locally led programs in Petit Trou de Nippes, our partner community of 36 years, through education, health, agriculture, and girls' empowerment. Locally Haiti’s integrated initiatives are designed to support economic development and the overall health and well-being of families in the Nippes region of rural Haiti. Locally Haiti supports efforts in education, agriculture and co

nservation, community health, and girls' empowerment. Locally Haiti was founded in 1989 under the name the Colorado Haiti Project by three Episcopal priests — Haitian Priest and Community Organizer, Father Octave LaFontant, and Fathers Dayle Casey and Ed Morgan of Colorado. The Episcopal Church remains a foundational and fundamental partner in our work, both in the U.S.

Bon Fèt Manman to the inspiring mothers of Petit Trou!

Haitian Mother’s Day is celebrated each year on the last Sunday in May. From St. Paul’s School, to the hospital, to our partners at ASFPN, our work in Haiti is fueled by extraordinary mothers and grandmothers working to help their community as they raise the next generation of leaders at home. We send our love and appreciation to the mothers of Petit Trou!

Today on International Day of the Midwife, we celebrate and honor Midwife Jennifer for the incredible care, compassion, and expertise she brings to mothers and babies in Petit Trou 💙

Through her leadership of our Mothers-to-Be Program, Jennifer walks alongside expecting mothers with education, encouragement, and prenatal support—helping families prepare for healthy pregnancies and births. She also provides critical care during deliveries at the hospital, ensuring mothers and newborns receive skilled, compassionate support in life’s most important moments.

Midwives are often the backbone of maternal healthcare, and we are deeply grateful for Midwife Jennifer’s dedication to the women and families she serves every day.
