1. What is a sorority? A group of women bound toget

her by friendship, sisterhood, and common goals and aspirations. Though there are many different sororities, they all share common founding principles that are of interest to any women. Sororities seek to enhance your educational experience by emphasizing intellectual, interpersonal, and social development. The ideal of lifelong friendship, sound education, campus and community service, and social interaction are what sorority members strive to live by each day.

2. Is greek life just like what I see in the movies? Every sorority is different and unique. They each have their own characteristics and personalities. The images portrayed in the movies and on TV shows do not reflect those of most sorority women, no matter which chapter they belong to.

3. How do I join? Most universities host formal recruitment, either in the fall or spring. Recruitment is when chapters seek to recruit new members. Various events may be hosted by each chapter to allow potential members an opportunity to get to know each house. Recruitment is also sometimes called "Rush."

4. Is it expensive? It's the best investment you could make. Most chapters have dues. They usually range from $100-$800 per month depending on the chapter. Dues help to pay to refurbish chapter houses, contribute to community service organizations and provide supplies and materials for evens. Most organizations have payment plans or scholarships available to their members. Have more questions? Feel free to ask!
