6,398 people trained. Hundreds of new businesses. And a year full of learning.

FY2026 was a year of momentum for Street Business School.

Across Uganda and our global partner network, we expanded our reach, tested new ways of delivering training, and saw strong evidence that practical entrepreneurship skills can help people increase their incomes and build businesses.

But the most exciting part? What we’re learning about how to take this work further.

From grassroots organizations in Buliisa and Fort Portal to refugee communities and young entrepreneurs, FY26 gave us new insights into what’s possible when local partners, donors, trainers, and entrepreneurs work together.

Meet Rose Kemigisa, an entrepreneur from Fort Portal, Uganda, whose journey is a story of resilience and hope. 🌱

After joining Street Business School through our partner Kyaninga Child Development Centre (KCDC), Rose gained the skills and confidence to grow her small pancake business and create new opportunities for her family.

For many women living in extreme poverty, building a better future starts with having the skills and confidence to create their own opportunities.

That’s why Street Business School equips women entrepreneurs with practical business skills to start and grow businesses, helping them increase their income and strengthen their livelihoods.

Women who complete our training program quickly double their income — and within a few years, triple it.

With increased income, women can provide essentials for their families, including nutritious food, education for their children, and access to healthcare.

The Journey Continues ✨

As Street Business School moves into a new fiscal year, we are taking a moment to celebrate two leaders who helped set the course for our journey: founding board members Torkin Wakefield and Joachim Ewechu.

Since SBS became an independent organization in 2018, Torkin and Joachim have shared their guidance, wisdom, and commitment to our mission—helping shape the organization we are today.

While their terms on the SBS Board of Directors have ended, their impact continues. Their leadership helped build a strong foundation for the next chapter of SBS. 🤝

As CEO Evan Cauble-Johnson shares, SBS is like a boat moving down a river. The people on board may change, but the mission remains the same: equipping women living in extreme poverty with the tools to create better futures through entrepreneurship.💡

✨Meet Peace Giramiya, a young mother and entrepreneur from Buliisa, Uganda, who is building a brighter future through business.

Before joining Street Business School, Peace sold small items in her community but didn’t see her business grow. Through SBS training, she learned how to manage money, start small, and make intentional business decisions.

With the skills she gained, Peace started a porridge business with almost no capital. Today, she earns a daily profit, supports her family, saves through community savings groups, and shares her knowledge with others.

From small ventures to big dreams, Peace is working toward her goal of opening a restaurant in Buliisa.
