Fall is here. Leave the leaves, even if you put them in parts of the yard where foot traffic isn't needed.

Increased acidity is happening in the oceans due to them exceeding their capacity to absorb CO2. The acidic ocean dissolves the shells of sea animals and is making it uninhabitable for many species.

We can all do more to reduce our CO2 emissions. Bike, Bus, Carpool and walk more and use the car less. Save your quick trips until you are in a certain part of town so you can take care of errands all at once. Adjust your home thermostat a few degrees and get used to wearing sweatshirts or tank tops inside.

Composting your own waste is key. Yard and food waste can be composted in backyard compost piles or composters. Landfills contribute 15-20% of methane emissions, so keeping items out of them that can be composted helps cut down on methane.

Dramatically decrease your animal product intake. Animal agriculture is one of the top sources of methane production and so is the oil and gas industry. They work hand in hand since an incredible amount of land is needed to grow food for livestock and petroleum based fertilizers are needed for those crops and transportation. Methane leaks from oil and gas production as well.

The good news is that every bite we take or action that we take can either hurt the environment or help the environment. How many Earth positive actions can you add to your day and life?

Share what you are doing to help curb excess CO2 and Methane from our environment.

A PLANET-Based Life is a way of living where you put the Earth (and her resources) first. Protect our resources, cut down on their use. There is no excuse for single-use. Return to reusables and don’t leave home without your reusable water bottle, cup or tumbler, food container for leftovers, cloth napkin, utensils and a bag. The planet shouldn’t have to pay the price for your convenience and lack of planning. Prepare for the planet and keep the habitat intact for plants and wildlife.

“Losing habitat is a huge issue, whether it's the Mexican gray wolf, the jaguar, the ocelot, the southwestern willow flycatcher, the Chiricahua leopard frog,” she said. “ This is the worst thing to ever happen to the Endangered Species Act.”
