High-Fishtrap-Rush Lake Association

High-Fishtrap-Rush Lake Association The High-FIshtrap-Rush Lake Association is a 9 year old incorporated 501(c)3 organization, which means it is a non-profit and voluntary organization.

Our members are property owners who live within a mile of these lakes. High Lake is located on a continental divide, and flows into Fishtrap and Rush Lakes. From there the waters flow down the Manitowish River to the Mississippi and eventually reach the Gulf of Mexico. HFRLA was formed to protect and preserve all that our three lakes have to offer. People come from all over the United States, no m

atter the season, to vacation here. There's lots to do...fishing, camping, water sports, biking, hiking, snowmobiling...just to name a few. Or you can just kick back and relax, and see beautiful scenery and exquisite sunsets. Wildlife you may encounter includes loons, eagles, deer, otters, bear, ducks, fox, Canada geese and many others, including an occasional trumpeter swan! .

Dear Fellow Property owners in the town of Land O'Lakes and property owners on High Lake,

REMINDER! Our lakes need you and the time to act is now! The High Fishtrap Rush Lakes Association has been working hard to pass a wake-boat ordinance to protect shorelines, water quality, and the peaceful enjoyment of our shared lakes. Because High Lake spans municipal borders, securing a unified ordinance has been a complex challenge. But, we are closer than ever to the finish line.
We need you to show up.

Why Your Presence Matters
We are asking the Town Board to extend the existing wake boat regulations passed last year to all lakes on the town borders including High Lake. We need constituents to persuade all three board members to approve this border ordinance as soon as possible.

A strong ordinance will:
Ensure safe fishing, swimming, canoeing, waterskiing and kayaking for all lake users
Protect your property from wave damage and erosion
Preserve wildlife and fish habitat for future generations
Reduce the chances that ballast water in these large boats bring invasive species to our lakes
Prevent High Lake from becoming a wake-boating hotspot in the Town of Land O’Lakes

Here’s What You Can Do Right Now

✅ Plan to attend the April 21st Annual Meeting and bring a neighbor, friend, or fellow lake lover.
✅ Spread the word! Forward this email to anyone who cares about our lakes.
✅ Public turnout sends a powerful message that our community is united behind protecting these waters.

PLEASE LET US KNOW YOUR PLANS
✔ If you plan to attend, please notify one of our board members so we can gauge attendance:
Mark Pabelick email - [email protected] or cell: 608 285-5128
Helen Schott or Roger Larson email - [email protected] or cell: 608 698-7851

✍ If you cannot attend, please consider sending an email to Roger Larson stating your position on wake boats on High Lake. Your written statement can be shared at the Land O’Lakes Annual Meeting so your voice can still be heard even if you cannot be there in person.

Wake boats pose real and documented threats to shoreline erosion, aquatic habitats, and the safety of other lake users. This ordinance is our best opportunity to establish lasting protections but only if we show up.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our lakes. Together, we can protect the waters we love for generations to come.

With appreciation,
Paul Egelhoff
President, High Fishtrap Rush Lakes Association
