UPDATE: Victim Identification

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Rowan Parham of Soquel. Our hearts and condolences are with Rowan’s family and friends during this incredibly tragic time.

UPDATE: Homicide suspect arrested.

Detectives worked through the night and brought the suspect into custody this afternoon. Due to the suspect being a juvenile, additional information will not be released.

Identification of the 18-year-old male victim is pending notification of family.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

Last night around 10:00pm deputies responded to multiple reports of a shooting at a party on the 1000 Blk of Brimblecom Rd in the Boulder Creek area. When deputies arrived on scene they located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Life saving measures were taken, but the victim succumbed to their injuries. The suspect is still outstanding and detectives are actively working on the case.

This is still an ongoing investigation. We will release additional information when the investigation allows.

Have you wanted to join Boulder Creek CERT?

Our local CERT team encourages our community members to get involved, as their ranks have dwindled due to being unable to hold in person trainings this year because of Covid restrictions.

The University of Utah has come up with a hybrid course that has been adopted by Santa Cruz County CERT. This course consists of 12 hours of online training then 2 in-person trainings with plenty of distancing and sanitizer.

Please email [email protected] if you are interested in the training and to schedule the in-person training. Also fill out the Contact Us form for Santa Cruz County CERT at the following link: https://santacruzcountycert.org/contact-us/
