The City of Bothell's Parks and Recreation Department is developing a Wayne Open Space Action Plan. Your input is being requested to help imagine the future of the park! Please attend the second open house session to be sure your voice is heard. You do not need to be a Bothell resident to attend.

Whale Scout is a Bothell-based nonprofit organization that has engaged the community in salmon habitat restoration at this park since 2019. The park represents one of the last significant places where river restoration benefitting salmon can take place within an urban watershed. Opportunities for ecological restoration, wildlife viewing, recreational experiences, and community benefits to mental health, connections to nature, and education are boundless, but the city needs to hear from you! Please play a role in imaging this amazing space! If you care for this park, have visited, or volunteered, please attend! Learn more about Whale Scout's involvement on our website.

๐Ÿ“ฃOpen House Reminder: Thursday, May 28, from 6-8pm at Bothell City Hall.

This is the second open house for the Wayne Open Space Action Plan. The event will feature opening remarks and a presentation from the project team, followed by opportunities to meet one-on-one with park staff and project consultants.

New MATCH! Doubled Donations for a Truck NOW until May 31!

Together, we raised $3,630 during the GiveBIG campaign. NOW, a donor has pledged to contribute an additional $3,500 towards a new truck.

If we can unlock just $2,185 of this match during GiveBIG, we will reach our goal of $8,000 for this campaign!

If we attain this goal, we will have raised a grand total of $15,000 towards our goal of $20,000. The more we can raise, the better and more reliable truck we can afford.

Today is the day!

Whale Scout needs your help to get a new truck! ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ’™
Our current truck is nearing the end of its life, and we rely on it every day to power our restoration work. A new truck will be a game changerโ€”helping us haul water to keep plants thriving through the hot summer months, move tarps full of invasive blackberries, transport native plants for future planting events, and even parade our beloved Mike the Inflatable Orca! ๐Ÿ‹
Every mile this truck travels will support healthier habitats and stronger ecosystems in our community. Donate today to help us keep the work moving forward!

Come enjoy the "Yellow Kayak", a new featured children's book at the former Wayne Golf Course provided by popup storywalk.

Read this beautiful book while walking the park along the Sammamish River!

This beautiful children's picture book by Nina Laden, illustrated by Melissa Castrillon, is about a boy and his giraffe best friend who embark on a magical, imaginative sea adventure in a small yellow kayak, encountering storms and sea creatures before returning home.

Giving a HUGE 'thank you' to all the families and volunteers who came out to the King County Parks trail easement adjacent to the former Wayne Golf Course in Bothell last weekend. One hundred of us strong made a big difference planting native trees and shrubs along this corridoor to be enjoyed by trail users and critters alike. We enjoyed hosting the Seattle Little Rangers as they explored the park and Sammamish River learning about salmon and orcas together.

There are still a couple opportunities to plant this season! Check our website for upcoming volunteer events and get ready for a summer of fun as we host educational events.

Thanks to King County Parks, WA Native Plant Society, and The Rose Foundation for their support.
