Small but mighty, focused but comprehensive, serious but a fun word that means the opposite of serious… another successful PATH demonstration in the books. The Cloven Book One and Two, to be exact. Radical gratitude to the Wanderlust Book Lounge for a sincerely engaging evening and to author Garth Stein (as well as to illustrator Matt Southworth who was unable to attend) for a truly inspired and beautiful graphic novel series!

CHILLOUT NOOK SESSION 194
Session 194 is based on me thinking about the PATH (People for the Altruistic Treatment of Hybrids) protest/demonstration chant "There's No Excuse For Hybrid Abuse!" and the combination of Outrage and Hope embedded in the Heart of its Message. 💚

In all the years I've been creating live-scores as The Antenna Project, I've only ever recorded myself a few times. It was never intended to be a recording project. It simply doesn't work, so to speak, like a standard pre-composed music project might work. It's all about live contexts... the live-scores being just that, LIVE SCORES.

But then I realized, hang on, there's nothing saying I can't live-score my own experience of occupying a space, while thinking about something in particular, and then let the music emerge from that meta-context, right? That's what originally inspired me to create TAP 4.0: The Nyxology Sessions in 2016. And it's what inspired me in 2020 to create the Chillout Nook Sessions, a far more intimate series of 20-minute meta-context live-scores, each made in my home... or HQ as I prefer to call it.

ABOUT TAP
Founded in 2002, The Antenna Project provides Instrumental Live-scores (improvised context-specific audio compositions) for all variety of experiences. Amplified electric guitar, an effects pedal and various methods of interfacing are used to create full-registered music ranging from subdued waves of droning minimalism to exuberantly celebratory maximalism. The project’s mantra is Devoted to the Present, a double nod to both the “present” as current moment and as gift.

CALL
Do you have an extended duration performance, yoga, meditation or other movement-based class, event, performance or happening, film, fashion show, opening, ceremony or gathering of some kind you'd like augmented with an instrumental live-score?

SUPPORT
If you find the efforts of The Antenna Project valuable and you are in a fortunate enough situation financially where you really don't need to think about money in increments under $20, please consider showing your personal appreciation by making a contribution.

But if you are in a situation where you pause to assess the spending of increments under $20, my appeal for financial support is not directed at you. Building a culture of sponsorship is important to me, to the success of this project, but it shouldn't be a culture of sacrifice. So please, only support my work in The Antenna Project if it feels easy. And if it doesn't feel easy, it's ok, don't worry about it, just enjoy the live-scores.

REVIEW
“Stein begins the middle section of his trilogy with former genetic engineer Kenneth Langner contacting journalist Jake Arthur. Despite being fired years previously, Langner’s well aware of the work being carried out by Aerie Farms, but Stein cleverly diminishes his credibility via his free association of assorted conspiracy theories.”

REVIEW
“What this book also does well is deploy poignant metaphors within that thematic framework. With The Cloven standing in for underserved populations, it’s easy to see the power behind the notion, which is not at all heavy handed, subtly being another consistent strength of this graphic novel.”

Our review of The Cloven: Book One looks at the forthcoming title, which is set to hit shops on July 28, 2020, via publisher Fantagraphics and from the creative team of Garth Stein and Matthew Southworth.
