Massachusetts has world-class arts and culture sitting alongside a world-class innovation economy. Most regions would trade a lot for that combination, which has tremendous potential when truly working together.

Over the past year, MassChallenge and Mass Cultural Council, the Commonwealth's state arts agency, have been exploring this creative advantage, talking with leaders across the arts, economic development, technology, and the nonprofit sector about how the intersection of creative practice and economic can strengthen the way founders and institutions build.

Now we want to hear from more of you. We put together a short survey with three quick questions:

1. Where do you see the biggest potential in connecting the cultural sector with entrepreneurship?

2. How should those connections happen, whether through policy, messaging, convenings, or partnerships?

3. Would you want to be part of this work going forward?

It takes just a few minutes, and your input will directly shape where we take this next.

Building more resilient communities requires more than good intentions and more than just showing up when disaster strikes. It requires entrepreneurs and organizations willing to take on challenges that no single sector can solve alone – and those challenges are getting more complex, requiring new approaches and partnerships

That's what brought founders, industry leaders, and innovation leaders together in Washington, D.C. as we wrapped up the Verizon Community Disaster Resilience Innovation Accelerator.

Over the past several months, this cohort has worked alongside Verizon and MassChallenge to develop and advance solutions designed to strengthen community resilience before disasters strike and improve response and recovery when they do.

The program finale was a powerful reminder that some of the most important innovation happening today isn't focused on convenience. It's focused on helping communities stay connected, informed, and prepared when it matters most.

We're grateful to Verizon for its leadership and commitment to this work, and to Carrie Hughes, Crystal Bergemann, Marissa McInnis and Chris DeBosier for their expertise and helping close out the program.

We'd also like to thank Donna Epps, Michele Cober, Marcela Zamora and the Verizon Public Policy and Strategic Alliances team for organizing and coordinating a networking reception on the Hill. This gathering afforded the cohort the unique opportunity to share their work with key decision makers in Congress.

Congratulations to this year's founders. We look forward to seeing how these solutions continue to evolve and create impact in communities across the country.

A special congratulations to Active Surfaces, Ascender Systems, OWL Integrations, Edge, SkyTL, Spectronn, and WingXpand. Thank you for your dedication, ingenuity, and commitment to strengthening community disaster resilience.

- AI that decodes the immune system from a single blood draw.
- A spray-on silk matrix for treating severe burns.
- Technology designed to turn cancer cells against themselves.

These are just three of the technologies being built by the 41 startups in our 2026 Healthcare & Life Sciences Traction Cohort.

Across biotechnology, MedTech, and digital health, the founders behind these companies are tackling some of healthcare's most complex challenges.

Different technologies. Different diseases. One shared mission. Getting breakthrough innovations through validation, commercialization, and adoption so they can reach the patients who need them.

Over the past several months, these founders and their teams engaged with MassChallenge's healthcare innovation communities in Dallas and Boston, working alongside industry experts to strengthen commercialization strategies, pressure test assumptions, build strategic relationships, and accelerate the journey from promising science to real-world impact.

Congratulations to this cohort. Together, they're pushing the boundaries of what's possible in cancer, cardiovascular disease, regenerative medicine, diagnostics, AI, and medical devices.
