'There's nothing like flowers when you least expect them' - from a friend of Ellie Fund.

For more than a decade, Chip Spalding has anonymously delighted Ellie Fund patients who were going through a particularly difficult time by surprising them with flowers.

Breast cancer treatment is rigorous. Between diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, patients spend a significant amount of time travelling to appointments. The financial burden of that travel adds up quickly.

At Ellie Fund, we help cover transportation costs by paying for their gas or rideshares. We help patients focus on treatment and recovery, not how they'll get to their next appointment.

We're proud to welcome Jenny to Team Ellie as she takes on the 2026 Falmouth Road Race in support of local breast cancer patients and their families.

This year's race holds special meaning for Jenny:

"This cause is deeply personal to me because my sister-in-law, Alicia, has been battling (and BEATING) breast cancer this year. Watching her move through this with strength, grace, and determination while being an amazing mom to her two young daughters has been inspiring. I’ve also watched my brother, Bill, support their family through every step of this journey. Seeing everything they’ve managed has made me especially grateful for organizations like the Ellie Fund that help ease the burden for families in treatment."

We are so proud to introduce three incredible Fontbonne Academy alumnae and former Ellie Fund, Students for Hope participants who will be running as part of Team Ellie in this year's Falmouth Road Race: Nicole Farrell, Rachel Farrell, and Kathleen Rose. 💗

When asked why they chose to give back once again, Nicole and Rachel shared:

" We are so excited to be running the Falmouth Road Race with Team Ellie in support of breast cancer patients and their families. This race is such a great opportunity for us to challenge ourselves physically while taking a step back to acknowledge the privilege of being healthy and capable of doing so. We know these families are facing battles far greater than running a 10K, and we are grateful to help in this small way. As Fontbonne Academy alumnae, we have fundraised for Ellie Fund before and are so happy to support its incredible mission once again. This race is especially meaningful because we get to experience it together as sisters. We are proud to raise funds for an organization that provides essential support to families during incredibly difficult times, and we are honored to be part of Team Ellie."

Kathleen shared:

"I am running for Ellie Fund this year in the Falmouth Road Race to support breast cancer patients and their families. As a Fontbonne Academy alumnae, I have fundraised for Ellie Fund before, and this charity holds such a special place in my heart. It's especially meaningful to me as I'm running in honor of my Nana, who passed away from breast cancer. I am so proud and honored to support this mission, and I'm grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way."

Nicole, Rachel, and Kathleen, thank you for continuing to lead with compassion and for choosing to give back to your community once again. We are so proud of each of you and can't wait to cheer you on as you take on the Falmouth Road Race this August. This July, Ellie Fund provided $232,000+ in funding for essential support services, helping 192 new patients and their families.

Each month, we continue to reach more patients. No one saves for breast cancer and no one prepares for it. Ellie Fund is here, easing financial burdens and helping improve patients' quality of life during treatment.
