EVA Center

EVA Center The EVA Center is a survivor-led organization that is dedicated to dismantling systems of s*x trafficking and exploitation.

The EVA Center is a survivor led organization that provides a wide range of continuous and comprehensive services for women exploited through prostitution and s*x trafficking. Programs are led by survivors who have had direct experience with s*xual exploitation; this helps inform EVA’s work and accountability and creates a stronger voice for marginalized, exploited women. We challenge public perce

ptions and strongly advocate for specialized, survivor led, strength-based programming that increases awareness of the many socio-economic and situational factors contributing to women's and girls' entry into the s*x trade. The EVA Center also works with global partners to end the s*xual exploitation of women and girls, give voice to survivors, and advocate for the implementation of the Nordic Model.

WPD Investigation Highlights Courage of Survivors and Calls for Community Accountability

Worcester, MA – The Department of Justice findings following the investigation into the Worcester Police Department’s use of excessive force and s*xual misconduct underscore the importance of trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. It highlights the critical need for transparency, accountability, and a renewed focus on the well-being of all community members, particularly those who have been historically marginalized or silenced. The countless women who came forward to share their experiences of violence and exploitation at the hands of law enforcement did so with nothing to gain personally; it was made clear from the outset of the investigation that this was a civil case. They spoke out solely to put an end to s*xual assault and abuse, hoping to prevent other women from enduring the same trauma inflicted by those sworn to protect them.

It is vitally important to honor the voices of the women who came forward and recognize their role in advocating for change. Their bravery, even at the risk of revictimization, should inspire intense and ongoing reform to ensure that our systems protect, rather than exploit, and that every individual is safe and respected in their community without prejudice. Therefore, when we discuss ‘serving our community honorably,’ I encourage city officials and representatives to include the survivors who risked their own safety in the pursuit of a safer community for all.

The Department of Justice investigation was extensive and thorough, made possible only through intense efforts to establish a relationship of trust between federal law enforcement and individuals trapped in the s*x trade. This was no simple task given the focus of the investigation. In their quest to uphold the United States Constitution the DOJ investigators transformed decades of harm into a foundation of hope, belief, authenticity and trust. Their efforts bridged the divide between law enforcement and survivors, fostering a renewed sense of connection and understanding. This is a time for continued reinforcement, and momentum of these efforts for the city of Worcester.

This investigation marks a vital starting point for the city of Worcester to move forward with the remedial recommendations ensuring that the framework for policing no longer includes any form of gender-based violence.

Our Story

The EVA Center is a survivor led, social justice oriented program whose mission is to empower women who have experienced s*xual exploitation, (prostitution, s*x trafficking), to find solutions to the issues they face and exit the commercial s*x industry. We also work to challenge public perceptions and strongly advocate for specialized, survivor led, strength based programming that increases awareness of the many socio-economic and situational factors contributing to women's and girls entry into the s*x trade.
