Fairways for Freedom is excited to announce that we will be conducting a
5 day 4 night, healing trip at the prestigious Sea Island Golf Club and
Resort on Saint Simons Island, Georgia. Home of the PGA Tour RSM
Classic and 26 PGA Tour Players. We practice OPSEC so the exact
dates and times will only be given to the selected individuals. The rough
timeline is the end of February and beginning of March, 2025.
We will be accepting applications from only combat wounded or combat injured
veterans (PTSD and TBI) from the Georgia and Florida area. Candidates should be
recreational golfers at a minimum, PGA tour courses are not for beginner golfers.
What is the program about?
The Fairways for Freedom golf trips and retreats focus on using primarily golf but
also other sports and activities (yoga, angling, hiking) to help combat-injured veterans
transition to civilian life and assist them in achieving a sustained outcome for a better
quality of life. This program will provide combat-injured veterans with instruction and
practice in evidence-informed, clinically tested self-regulation techniques; opportunities
for engaging in various therapeutic, recreational, and community-building social
activities; education and training on implementing healthy lifestyle choices; nutrition.
fitness, mindfulness and education about community-based veterans’ resources for
post-program reintegration.
Are you eligible to be a candidate?
You must have a direct combat wound, injury or trauma with proof of such(PTSD and TBI qualify) Purple Heart
and Valor recipients are at the top of the list. To be considered as a candidate you must
have the psychological and physical ability to be in an unfamiliar place and be able to
room with another veteran.
There is no cost for these trips for the combat-injured veterans. Golf (including rental
clubs if you do not have your own clubs), lodging, meals and snacks.
Priority to Glynn, Camden, McIntoshBrantley, Wayne, Long, Liberty and
Charlton County Veterans.
Veterans attending the U.S.-based trips are responsible for their transportation to
and from the venue of the trip.
Approximately 6 combat-injured veterans will be chosen for this trip.
