As we gear up for the Y20 Summit from 18–22 August 2025, it’s been a powerful journey engaging in Track 3: AI, Digital Transformation & the Future of Work.

Our Director of Programmes, Lebo Mmatjie, has been actively contributing to these global conversations—deepening our understanding of AI ethics, safety, and how technology is reshaping the world of work.

YAT x BCG Youth Day Wrap-Up

On 19 June 2025, we co-hosted a transformative Work Readiness Programme in celebration of Youth Day — in partnership with Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

The outcome? ⚡ Energy. Insight. Purpose.

🚀 50 young people from leading institutions — including the University of Pretoria , University of Johannesburg , University of Limpopo / Universiteit van Limpopo , Belgium Campus , Eduvos and Tshwane North College — participated in a full-day immersive Work Readiness Programme led by BCG professionals delving into CV workshopping, interview readiness and networking.

Together, we tackled the pressing question:
How do we prepare youth for a rapidly changing world of work?
📊 With South Africa’s youth unemployment rate hovering above 60%, the stakes are urgent.

At Young Aspiring Thinkers, we’re not interested in one-off events. We’re invested in sustainable, innovative solutions to empowerment.
This cohort of youth will now be onboarded onto our AI-powered Career Guidance Platform — where we will:
-Track their career milestones,
-Offer personalised career guidance support,
-Connect them to postgraduate and early-career opportunities across industries.

💼 This isn’t just a programme. It’s a pipeline — from aspiration to action.

This Youth Day, we honour a generation driving real change — and celebrate one of our own who embodies that spirit.

📢 We are proud to announce that Lebo Mmatjie, our Programmes Lead at Young Aspiring Thinkers, has been selected to serve as a delegate at the 2025 Y20 Summit South Africa under the working group: “AI, Digital Innovation, Education, and the Future of Work – Innovate to Elevate: Building Skills for Tomorrow.” 🇿🇦🤖📚

🌐 This working group is at the heart of the G20 South Africa presidency’s priorities — focusing on bridging digital divides, advancing ethical AI, and preparing young people for the future world of work through innovation, digital literacy, and inclusive access to tech.

At Young Aspiring Thinkers, this mission is deeply personal. Our transformation into an AI-powered EdTech social enterprise is about doing exactly this:
