We’re excited to spotlight the incredible work of Brenda Blythe Community Coordinator at The Guild House East in Philadelphia, PA.

Through strong partnerships with Morrison Food Pantry and our newest partner, Oak Street Health, Brenda continues to bring fresh, healthy food directly to residents through monthly pop-up food banks. Even when scheduling challenges arise, Brenda goes the extra mile, personally picking up and delivering food to ensure no one goes without.

A special thank you to the residents who consistently show up, lend a hand, and make these events a true community effort, as well as the dedicated property management team whose ongoing support helps make initiatives like this possible.

We’re especially excited to welcome Oak Street Health, who will begin delivering 50 boxes of fresh food, including eggs, bacon, and produce, to residents this May.

These partnerships are more than just food distribution, they support health, connection, and overall well-being in our communities.
Stay tuned for highlights from this month’s food drive.

Last week, our team had the incredible opportunity to attend the National Resident Services Collaborative (NERSC, Inc.) Annual Conference, and what an inspiring experience it was.

More than 20 of our Community Coordinators from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and Connecticut came together for three days of learning, collaboration, and meaningful connection. From sharing best practices to strengthening relationships across our regions, the energy and commitment in the room were truly impactful.

We are especially proud to see our team represented in leadership roles. Our very own Jayme Bonds serves on the NERSC Board, and Tara Mosley played an integral role on the conference Planning Committee, a true reflection of their dedication to advancing resident services.

In addition, we were excited to see our team members share their expertise on stage. Moe Rondeau with WinnCompanies led a powerful workshop, “The Generation Clash: Leadership Lessons,” and Jayme Bonds also facilitated a session focused on the importance of Self-Care, a critical topic in sustaining those who serve our communities every day.

NERSC is a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing resident services through professional development, resources, and a strong network of practitioners who are committed to supporting residents and strengthening communities. Being part of this collective reinforces the importance of the work we do every day and the power of coming together to grow it.

We’re proud to support NERSC’s mission and even prouder of our team for showing up, leading, and continuing to invest in the communities they serve.

Access matters. Last month at Prospect Heights, our Community Resource Fair—led by Community Coordinator II, Anabell Castillo, connected residents directly with critical services and support.

When resources are brought onsite, barriers are reduced, awareness grows, and residents are better equipped to take the next step toward stability. Through direct engagement with community partners, residents gained tools, information, and connections that extend well beyond the day of the event.

Thank you to all participating partners for helping expand access and opportunity. This is what it looks like when outreach meets impact.

Together, we are strengthening pathways to resources, building trust, and creating more connected, resilient communities.

What better way to spend Maintenance Apprenticeship Week than in the classroom and out in the field.

At The Peterson School, Cohort 6 participated in plumbing training on Wednesday and Thursday, rotating in smaller groups as part of their 85 hours of hands-on training in electrical, plumbing, and core maintenance skills that build the foundation for long-term careers.

Alongside Saraugh Fitah, Director of Workforce Development, we also spent time visiting former apprentices now thriving on-site. From classroom to career, their growth speaks for itself.

This program is about more than training. It is about creating pathways, strengthening communities, and opening doors to opportunity.

To our partners and supporters, thank you for helping make this possible. Together, we are building futures.

Breslyn House Launches Its First PCC Meeting to Support FSS Families

Breslyn House in Philadelphia, PA recently held its first Program Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting, bringing together residents and dedicated partners to strengthen support for families participating in the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program.

In partnership with Compass Working Capital and Connected Communities Foundation, Breslyn House welcomed representatives from Philadelphia Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity, Episcopal Community Services, and Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency to collaborate on expanding opportunities for residents.

The meeting followed a full day of outreach led by Community Coordinator Donna Wilson, connecting families to the FSS program and its many benefits. Partners shared updates on enrollment, savings incentives, and resources including employment bonuses, technology access, and financial tools designed to support long-term stability.

Discussions also highlighted the Asset-Building Initiative (ABI), which offers milestone-based rewards in addition to escrow savings, creating even more pathways for residents to build financial security.

And check out that little hand placing savings into her piggy bank, a simple but powerful reminder that building financial stability often starts with small, meaningful steps.

Most importantly, residents had a seat at the table, sharing feedback on the support, resources, and programming that matter most as they work toward their goals.

The PCC will reconvene this fall to continue building on this momentum.

Last month at Aboussie Pavilion in St. Louis, MO, we found a meaningful way to support the health and wellness of our residents by taking the experience beyond our community walls.

Our residents enjoyed a field trip to visit one of our valued partners, EverTrue - PACE While we often bring partners onsite, this offsite visit created a unique opportunity for residents to experience services in a real-world setting and better understand the full scope of support available to them.

From primary care and dental services to adult day programs, in-home health, and palliative care, residents were able to explore a full continuum of care focused on independence, dignity, and overall well-being.

The experience was made even more special with a complimentary shuttle provided by EverTrue - Pace and a delicious lunch from Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken. It was not only informative, but also a fun and social outing for everyone involved.

A heartfelt thank you to Paris at Pace Evertrue for the warm welcome and for treating our residents with such genuine compassion and respect. Partnerships like these play an important role in advancing whole-person wellness in our communities.

A special shoutout to Selma Topalovic, Senior Community Coordinator I, and Vedran Saldo, Community Coordinator II, for their dedication to creating engaging and impactful experiences that truly make a difference.

This is what community-based wellness looks like in action.

Earlier this month, residents of Prospect Heights in Pawtucket, RI came together for their monthly resident meeting, a wonderful opportunity to stay connected and engaged in community life.

Important reminders were shared about completing annual recertifications on time, updating animal records, and opportunities like the Winning Edge and NAHMA scholarships.

Total Wireless - Verizon educated residents on phone and internet discounts and raffled off a speaker to one lucky winner! Residents also enjoyed warm coffee and treats while learning about exciting new clubs coming soon, including a walking club, gardening club, and crochet club.

The meeting concluded with the celebration of the resident survey raffle winner!

Special recognition goes to Anabell Castillo, Community Coordinator II, for bringing energy, organization, and care to every resident experience, helping make Prospect Heights a welcoming and connected community.

Last month, our residents enjoyed a fancy evening of Sip & Paint in celebration of Women’s Month at the Haynes House in Roxbury, MA.

They relaxed and got creative while painting beautiful women-inspired canvases all while sipping on sparkling cider. It was a night filled with laughter, creativity, and well-deserved relaxation.

A special thank you to Krishna Jean Louis, Community Coordinator II, Etai Belinky, Senior Community Coordinator II, Jennifer Garcia, Senior Community Coordinator I, and Inanyeli Beltre, Community Coordinator I, for their dedication to resident engagement and for creating this memorable experience. We also want to recognize Madison Park Development Corporation and WinnCompanies for their continued support in making events like this possible, helping to bring our communities together and create moments of connection and celebration.

We love creating experiences that allow our residents to unwind, express themselves, and celebrate one another.

At Soundview Landing Apartments in Norwalk, CT, Community Coordinators are redefining what youth engagement looks like.

Led by Guillermo Serrano Jr., Community Coordinator, “Teen Tuesday” has become more than just a weekly gathering. It is a dedicated space where youth residents can connect, build confidence, and gain real-world skills that prepare them for what comes next.

At a recent session, the focus was Interview Preparation. With summer job opportunities on the horizon, teens explored the do’s and don’ts of interviewing, practiced with mock interviews, and even received peer feedback to help sharpen their skills. The result was a high-energy, supportive environment where learning felt engaging and relevant.

This is what it means to think outside the box. It is not just about providing a space, it is about creating experiences that equip young people with the tools they need to succeed.

Community Coordinators play a critical role in shaping these moments. By meeting youth where they are and introducing opportunities in creative and meaningful ways, they help build confidence, encourage exploration, and support long-term success.

When we invest in our youth, we are investing in stronger, more connected communities.

Pets are more than companions. They are family.🐾

They bring comfort, reduce stress, and create a sense of connection that is deeply meaningful for our residents. Supporting their health and well-being is an important part of supporting the families who love them.

We are incredibly grateful to MSPCA–Angell for providing vaccines and pet care services that made a real difference for our residents and their pets.

This effort is part of a partnership between MSPCA-Angell, Connected Communities, and WinnCompanies to bring pet care programming to underserved communities in Lynn, Salem, Springfield, and Lawrence—helping more families keep their pets healthy and thriving.

A special thank you to PetSmart for their generous donations, which helped extend this impact even further, supporting residents and team members across communities.

Ramona Bueno, Community Coordinator II (Louis Barrett Residence), Ruth Jerez, Senior Community Coordinator I (Loft Five50), and Nataly Vasquez, Community Coordinator II (Allen Park Apartments), helped bring these donations to life by extending resources and services directly to their residents.

And this is where collaboration truly shines.

Tomasina Reyes, Community Coordinator II at Pequot Highlands in Salem, Massachusetts, thoughtfully organized and distributed donated pet supplies so that multiple communities could benefit, ensuring that upcoming clinics at other locations are just as impactful. From collars and treats to toys and essentials, these donations will help make each event welcoming and meaningful for residents and their furry companions.

Because when communities come together to share resources, we don’t just meet needs, we expand impact.

We’re excited to continue this momentum with upcoming clinics across our communities.

Together, we are creating healthier, happier communities for residents and their pets.

This month at Castle Square hosted a Money $mart educational workshop to empower residents with tools to recognize and reduce the risk of financial exploitation. Residents learned about common scams, warning signs, and strategies for reporting suspicious activity to protect themselves.

A special thank you to our partners Age Strong and AmeriCorps volunteers for bringing these valuable resources, and to the Castle Square Tenant Organization and Winn for their ongoing commitment to education and community engagement, helping keep our residents safe and informed.
