Wisconsin River Trail Organization

Wisconsin River Trail Organization We are in the process of building a bike trail that connects our little communities of Boscobel, Woodman, and Wauzeka. Our little towns have so much to offer.

It has always been our goal to improve our town, and as we continue to grow, let's grow in the right direction. With the support of our city staff, I am pleased to announce the beginning drive to start a hiking/biking/cross-country skiing trail that will hopefully encompass Boscobel, Woodman, and Wauzeka with bridges that will allow us to view the scenic Wisconsin River as we never have viewed it

before. Our first step is to complete the Sanders Creek walkway out to the boat landing to allow for safe travels to enjoy the beautiful nature, scenery, fishing, canoeing, or picnicking. Our second and more monumental step is to create a non-motorized trail through the scenic bluffs and riverways that makes our beautiful area a one-of-a-kind outdoor scenic wonderland that we can share with other outdoor enthusiasts, whether it would be hiking/biking/cross-country skiing, or just getting a little out of town to smell the fresh air and feel closer to nature. Our hope is that parts of the trail would be handicap-accessible to ensure that everyone could enjoy the Wisconsin River beauty equally. The DNR has these two projects on their "master plan" for the Lower Wisconsin Riverway and has informed us that the more support that exists for these projects, the stronger their commitment will be to complete these tasks in a timely manner. Through grants, fundraisers, and donations, let's continue to look ahead in the future of our children and grandchildren and make our hometown area a little bit bigger slice of heaven than we already know it is! Please join our group, spread the word, and contact any of the committee if you have a desire to help us press on with assistance with fundraising, donations, or talents such as marketing, web design, or volunteering in any other way. Thanks and let's leave a legacy for our children!

Weโ€™re excited to spend a little time with our neighbors, share whatโ€™s happening with the Wisconsin River Trail, and chat with anyone whoโ€™s trail-curious, community-minded, or just out enjoying a good market day.

We may have a few surprises at the table, but either way, weโ€™d love for you to stop by and say hi to Denise and Jackie! See you tomorrow

Monday night community bike rides are back! ๐Ÿšฒ

Weโ€™re bringing back an old favorite, and weโ€™d love to have you ride with us.

Our first ride will be Monday, June 1 at 6:30 PM, kicking off during Wisconsin Bike Week. After that, weโ€™ll plan to ride every Monday evening, weather permitting.

Meet at Depot Park Shelter.

These rides are meant to be relaxed, friendly, and community-focused. No racing. No pressure. Just a chance to get outside, move a little, and enjoy an evening ride together.

Please bring your bike, helmet, water, and anything else you need to feel comfortable.

If weather doesnโ€™t cooperate, weโ€™ll post any cancellation updates right here on our page.
See you Monday!

We just held our annual meeting and are so excited for the wonderful things going on...but before I talk about that...I'm wondering...does anyone in the Boscobel area have any storage capacity for us to store some items that are easily accessible for us? I don't live there and am unable to bring items back and forth. Must be clean and critter free!

We had a great turnout and meeting. Top things to know:
1. UW-Platteville Engineering students are planning on adopting us again this year. We are interested in knowing where the community members and visitors would like to see a trail continuation, once we get the trail to Woodman. Would you like to go to Blue River, using Old C? Fennimore? Wauzeka? Please let us know your thoughts ([email protected])

2. National Park Service is opening up some of the projects that were shut down due to funding restrictions and we are top of their list. They assist with creating trails through all means (minus construction itself). See https://www.nps.gov/orgs/rtca/index.htm for more info.

3. We are investing in our future, as we were chosen for one-on-one assistance creating a DIY economic impact survey/research. This takes 9 months total. This study will give us so much information on our baseline numbers for trail users, research for similar communities and the economic (and many other) advantages the trail has brought to their community, as well as assisting with future planning, assisting with grant writing numbers, determining trends of use, and so many other things! More to come as we move forward.

4. We grew our board with great intention! We now have different groups that will work on different trail needs. If you are interested in helping as a volunteer (or would like to join the board, please reach out. Our 4 groups are:
-Fundraising-We are always in need of volunteers here!
-Marketing/Social Media
-Finance/Treasury
-Current Construction/Maintenance

And then we will meet quarterly with the entire board (of about 20) for an Envisioning meeting.

Again, more to come...I got wordy...but thanks for your interest!

My email is [email protected] if you want to reach out.
