Next week we’ll be visiting the libraries in Tangipahoa parish!

Fun fact: I lived in Ponchatoula for about 10 years after Katrina since I have family there 🙂 I may have taught Zumba and other fitness classes during that time so if I look familiar that may be why lol

Get ready for a wild adventure with Nature on the Geaux!

As part of our Summer Reading Program, you'll have the chance to get up close and personal with fascinating exotic animals while learning about the natural world around us. It's an exciting, hands-on experience that the whole family will enjoy.

Don't miss the fun—come explore, learn, and make some unforgettable memories with us this summer!

One question I get a lot is: “How do you take care of all the animal ambassadors when you’re gone all day?”

The answer? I wake up super early & sometimes up super late 😅

Before I leave, everyone gets fed, fresh water, and any spot cleaning that needs to be done. I also do daily wellness checks either in the morning or evening to make sure everyone is healthy, active, and acting like themselves.

I keep an enrichment calendar for the ambassadors too, and many of their enrichment activities happen when I get home. Even on the busiest days, that time with them is non-negotiable.

My weekends are dedicated to deep cleaning habitats, organizing supplies, and catching up on all the behind-the-scenes animal care work. (It’s also why I don’t book programs on weekends right now.)

There are definitely busy seasons and slow seasons, and some weeks feel a little wild….but I know it won’t always be this hectic.

Just know that every animal here is cared for, checked on, spoiled, and loved. Some days are exhausting, but I wouldn’t trade these little creatures for anything. 💕

Smaller libraries means we can be a little more hands-on 💕

Calling all animal enthusiast! Nature on the Geaux visiting all three branches TOMORROW, June 12, 2026. Visits will begin in Jackson at 10 AM, move to Clinton at 12 PM, and end in St. Helena at 2 PM. Tanee strives to educate others on animals by not only talking about them, but bringing them along so you can get an up close experience around these amazing creatures. While the ambassadors she brings vary, there is sure to be at least one that grabs your attention. This program is open to the public and no cost to you!

Whew! What a great first show at the Denham Springs library! Our next one is at 2pm at the same library if you would like to join us 🙂 Just pack a little bit of patience because it’s a large crowd.

In the meantime, we are doing training sessions with Knox to get him used to really big rooms 💕 Food is his love language lol

Knox is ready to make people fall in love with Patagonian Maras 🥰 We are parked btw he’s not old enough to drive 💁‍♀️
