Boothbay Region Garden Club hosted the Medomak District Annual Meeting on Monday, May 4th at the new Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences auditorium. The Medomak District is made up of 7 garden clubs ( Garden Club, Boothbay Region Garden Club, Camden Garden Club of Maine, Friendship Garden Club, Topsham Garden Club, Waldoboro Community Garden Club and Garden Club of Wiscasset). The attendees were treated to breakfast items supplied by Boothbay Region Garden Club and lunch items from Pinkham's Gourmet Market.

Certificates of appreciation were given out by each club to their members who went above beyond for their clubs. Boothbay Region Garden Club recognized Irene Fowle and Karen Iliades. Topping off the meeting was a presentation by Catherine Mitchell (Bigelow research scientist) on how she is using satellites to track phytoplankton by the colors observed in the ocean. Attendees asked many questions and everyone seemed to enjoy the talk. Afterwards, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens offered a guided tour of the Gardens to those attendees who chose to visit.
