Garden Club members worked hard to put together unique, local, handcrafted gifts that will be featured in the following distinct sections:

• COMFORT AND JOY: Cozy, charming and whimsical one-of-a-kind gift ideas for the special ones on your holiday list!
• GIFT BASKETS: Enchanting collections of gifts wrapped in beautiful containers
• TREES AND ORNAMENTS: Themed, fully decorated trees with lights and ornaments and unique, handmade ornaments

Proceeds from this Boothbay Harbor tradition support local student education scholarships and the numerous environmental and community projects we undertake to contribute to the natural beauty of this area.

The Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission is holding a Planning in the Wild workshop next Thursday, 9/23 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson.

In partnership with Midcoast Conservancy, the Maine Department of Agriculture Conservation and Forestry, the Maine Natural Areas Program, and the Maine Forest Service, they will be hosting a walk and talk where attendees will learn about:

Common invasive species identification and ecology
Actions you can take to mitigate invasive species in your community and at home
Educational resources and programs.

You'll walk away with practical, Maine-specific strategies to take action against invasive pests and plants. A flyer is attached with more information!

Our friends at the Maine Maritime Museum are hosting Slow Flowers September 17–20 | Self-guided tours are included with admission

Maine Maritime Museum welcomes Maria Salcines from Fogwood Gardens and a team of floral artists to create floral installations using local flowers, sustainable mechanics, and native plants growing right here on our landscape. A walk around the historic shipyard will reveal arrangements built to honor Maine's history and culture by using props such as old lobster traps. They will also highlight how sustainable floristry impacts the quality of our environments, supports Maine's small farms and connects people to the plants. I (Kevin Bowler) found this in my squash bed today. Apparently, it is a broad-leaf helleborine. A type of orchid. I cannot wait to see it bloom. Some folks say it might be invasive, but time will tell.
