Time is running out! The lucky winners of these Susan Bartlett Rice paintings will be selected next Thursday. These paintings will become murals at the new Carter’s Wharf buying station on the east side of Boothbay Harbor. Any donors at the $44 level will be entered into the drawing. $500 donors will receive a print of the generations piece. It’s a win-win! Support local working waterfront and win beautiful artwork by a local Maine artist. Susan was just honored as the recipient of the best mural in Portland award. Donate through PayPal on our website or send donations to Post 0ffice Box 285, Boothbay Harbor, Maine 04538

A Wiscassett reader recently sent us this photo. The Willard Daggett, a lobster smack, was built at the Rice Brothers boatyard in 1923. This photo was taken in 1934 on a “picnic trip” to the region. Read more about lobster smacks in our summer 2022 newsletter posted on our website under the Heritage & History tab. This photo and many others have been professionally digitized by archivists at the Penobscot Marine Museum (PMM) for the BRMF Research Collection. You can link to that on our website as well. Want your family fishing heritage preserved for future generations? Consider adding your photos to the BRMF Research Collection. We can make digital copies and return the originals to you. Email us for more information.
