Congratulations, Karsten, for being recognized as Crew of the Week by his supervisor at Holiday World!

Karsten and his fellow bussers were recognized for their outstanding hard work during one of the hottest weeks of the summer. Despite the extreme heat, Karsten assisted with keeping the outdoor dining areas clean with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to help wherever needed. His co-workers enjoy working alongside him and appreciate his teamwork, reliability, and positive attitude.

Tracy Jarboe (Karsten’s Employment Coordinator) shared, "It has been a privilege to watch Karsten's confidence, independence and dedication grow this summer. This recognition is well deserved and is a testament to the effort he puts into his job every day."

Way to go, Karsten! Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we can't wait to see all you continue to accomplish!

When evaluating County Priorities from our 2026 Community Snapshot Survey, respondents indicated that Dubois County expressed the strongest concern around mental health needs, while Martin County respondents emphasized housing and economic stability. Crawford County participants highlighted transportation as a dominant challenge, and Pike County respondents reported economic stability and transportation slightly outweighing mental health concerns.

Other counties including Daviess, Perry, Orange, and Spencer reflected on similar combinations of mental health, housing, and transportation concerns, with varying barriers related to staffing, coordination, and community engagement.

From these priorities came several strategic opportunities for regional collaboration and action, including:

◾️Expanding regional mental health solutions rather than county-by-county approaches
◾️Increasing investment in early childhood programs as a prevention strategy
◾️Addressing transportation as a cross-cutting issue affecting multiple sectors
◾️Developing sustainable funding models that encourage cross-county partnerships
◾️Building stronger coordination infrastructure, including shared convening, referral pathways, and aligned data systems

Congratulations to Matt Higginson on being recognized as “Crew of the Week” at Holiday World!

Matt earned this well-deserved recognition for his hard work and dedication in the Ranch from July 1–5 working through extreme heat in one of the hottest areas of the park. His manager, Chuck, shared that he truly appreciates Matt's resilience and positive attitude under the relentless summer sun.

Matt works as many days as possible at Holiday World, is cross-trained in multiple departments in Rides and Attractions, and genuinely loves what he does. His commitment, reliability, and enthusiasm make him an incredible member of the Holiday World team.
