Kataluma

Kataluma A sacred space where Christ may be present in sacred fellowship with his friends; and that those who come may make room for him in their hearts and lives.

Our hope is that all who come may be drawn closer to God in the beauty of nature. Kataluma is a vision of Rev. Jenny Stewart and a ministry of Boonville United Methodist Church. The word "kataluma" is the Greek word translated "guest room" in the New Testament. In Mark 14:14, Jesus instructed his disciples to ask the homeowner, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples

?"

Kataluma is envisioned as “the guest room,” a space prepared for Christ to be present in sacred fellowship with his friends; a place where those who come may make room for him in their hearts and lives. Located near Boonville, NC, the 58 acres of wooded land is a natural environment of trees, hills, valleys, streams, a waterfall and a small lake. Foot trails wind throughout with occasional chairs and benches to pause for reflection and/or prayer. Other features include a small prayer chapel, a picnic area, and a soon-to-be constructed prayer labyrinth.
