Each year, after we host an event or tournament, we are reminded of just how deeply our community shows up for the Lawrence family. It is truly heartwarming to see people continue to gather in support, year after year.
Many ask how we were able to turn such a tragedy into something that serves the greater good. The truth is—it is not easy. Each year brings a reminder of what we have lost, but in that process, we also gain so much. We gain love, meaningful relationships, and unforgettable memories.
At this year’s Memorial Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament, we had the honor of welcoming our first all-women’s team. Even more meaningful, one of the officers who responded on the day of Lucas’ passing, was among them. The courage, strength, and spirit these women brought simply by showing up is something we want to recognize and celebrate.
What an emotional, full circle moment for our family, and Holly I am sure. Although you may not have left as the winner of this tournament, you have left an everlasting imprint on all of our hearts.
It is remarkable to witness the impact Lucas continues to make. Though many years have passed, his legacy lives on—made possible in no small part because of all of you.
