his vision, we dedicate ourselves to ensuring that no pet owner is forced to part ways with their beloved companion due to financial hardship or lack of resources. Through our compassionate pet care assistance programs, including the Pet Food Pantry, Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program, and our Mobility Cart Program, we extend a helping hand to those facing adversity. Our Pet Food Pantry endeavors to alleviate the burden of providing nutritious meals for pets by supplying essential food supplies, ensuring that families can prioritize their well-being without compromise. Additionally, our Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program aims to promote responsible pet ownership by offering affordable access to vital veterinary services, thereby preventing overpopulation and reducing the number of animals in shelters. By addressing the immediate needs of pet owners in crisis and fostering a culture of responsible pet care, we strive to create a community where every pet is cherished, every family is supported, and the bond between humans and animals is celebrated and preserved.

As you enjoy the festivities, please remember to keep your furry family members safe. Fireworks can be frightening for many animals, so keep pets indoors, ensure they have updated ID tags or microchip information, and provide a quiet, comfortable space where they can feel secure.

🐾🆘 VENEZUELA'S ANIMALS NEED US — PLEASE SHARE & DONATE 🆘🐾

On June 24th, two devastating earthquakes — magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 — struck northern Venezuela, destroying homes, hospitals, roads, and critical infrastructure across Caracas, La Guaira, and surrounding communities. (IFAW) The human toll is catastrophic, but the animals are suffering too.

Community animals are becoming trapped or separated from their families, livestock and working animals are losing access to food, water, and veterinary care, and wildlife habitats are being disrupted. (IFAW)
IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) is already on the ground and working with their long-time Venezuelan partner Red de Apoyo Canino — an organisation with extensive experience supporting animals during emergencies in Venezuela. (IFAW) These are the people on the front lines rescuing dogs, cats, and livestock from the rubble right now.

How YOU can help:

🐕 Donate to IFAW's Venezuela Emergency Response — funds go directly to animal rescue and care.

🐾 Support Red de Apoyo Canino directly — a trusted local Venezuelan rescue network doing incredible work with very little.

Our first Pet Food Bank of 2026 will be held on Sunday, April 12th from 11am to 1pm at Bergen County Animal Shelter. Open to Bergen County, Harrison, and Kearny, NJ residents only. Applications can be printed from our website at www.bergenspca.org/pet-food-bank/ Applicants must meet specified qualifications.
