Boonsboro Green Fest

10/12/2026

Just a few candids from Saturday’s Bulk Clean-Up & Recycling Event. It was a great day for helping to make Boonsboro a cleaner and greener place! We shared so many usable household goods and furnishings with the community. Loads of metal, electronics, batteries and bulky plastics were recycled. And our volunteers enjoyed the work, the fellowship and, we must admit, the snacks. Once again, it was great to team up with Boonsboro’s Public Works employees, Horizon Goodwill, Spicher’s Appliances, J & J Trash Services and Conservit. We’ll also be passing along eye glasses that were collected to the Boonsboro Lions Club, and the batteries will be recycled with Battery One of Hagerstown. 💚🌻
** You might as well mark your calendars now for October 9, 2027 **

Don’t miss this latest opportunity to recycle all types of electronics and batteries! This Saturday, October 10 from 8am until noon at the Community Center Parking Lot in Shafer Park. See the link in the comments for more information on the annual Bulk Clean-Up & Recycling Event. Green Fest volunteers will be on hand to help unload and sort recyclables, donations and items for the Free Sale. (The bulk trash portion of this event is for Town of Boonsboro residents only; everything else is open to the public.) 💚🌻

Oh, Jane. May your wisdom and kindness always be with us.

This morning Green Fest volunteers dropped off a huge donation of clothes to Children In Need, Inc. in Hagerstown! The clothes, shoes, & blankets were items remaining from Saturday’s Swap & Recycling event. Thank you to the community for being so generous to the Clothing Swap. A big Thanks to Antietam-Conococheague Watershed Alliance - ACWA for lending us their trailer to store & haul the donations!!

It’s starting!! We begin collecting clothing at Pavilion 1 in Shafer Park from 5-7pm tonight and tomorrow night. Then again on Friday from 3-6pm. This really helps us get a jump start on sorting by size and type so we’re ready to go bright and early on Saturday! 💚🌻

Ryan Miner created an app for Green Fest’s Swap & Recycling Event to honor his grandmother on her 85th birthday. Below is Joyce’s story and a link to the app. Such a gift of time and service.
💚🌻

This is my grandmother, Joyce D. Miner.

This Saturday, May 9, is Joyce's 85th birthday. It's also the day of the Boonsboro Green Fest at Shafer Park.

My grandmother loved going to Green Fest - so I built something for her, and for the community she loved. Today, Grandma Joyce lives in memory care in Hagerstown.

The app is no cost. No data is collected, and nothing is for sale inside.

The 2026 Boonsboro Green Fest mobile app I created tells you what to bring, who's taking it, and where to go in the park. You can install it on your phone's home screen and open it like any other app on Saturday.

If you're going to Green Fest, or if you know somebody who is, the URL is:

It's not affiliated with the Town of Boonsboro or the Environmental Commission. I built it to honor my grandmother, Joyce, on her 85th birthday - in a way that mattered to her hometown.

Happy birthday, Memaw. We love you!

And besides all of the recycling and free swap areas, we also have Black Mountain Roasters, Bricello's Caterers and Grilled Formaggio, Tony M. Music, fun crafts for the little ones hosted by our local Girl Scout troop, Washington County Master Gardeners, and so much more!
