🎉 What a GREAT first month back at Afterschool! 🎉

We wrapped up September welcoming 150 NEW students to our program in just one month! That is HUGE, and we are so excited to see our program continue to grow! ❤️

Unfortunately, our current grant period ended on September 30, and our renewal for the upcoming grant year has not yet been finalized. Because of this, Afterschool is temporarily paused while we await the finalization of our renewal.

We know how important Afterschool is to our students and families, and we truly appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this waiting period. We are just as eager as you are to get back to homework help, fun activities, and all the things that make our program special!

As soon as we are able, we'll be back up and running! We look forward to seeing everyone again soon! ❤️

We are thankful for our partnership with Mississippi Department of Human Services and their making this program possible. Thank you for your continued support of NEMCC Career Development Academies! 💙💛

☀️ That's a wrap on another incredible CDA Summer Camp! ☀️
What an amazing summer of learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories!
Monday's excitement with the planetarium (previous post) was just the beginning this week! We ended camp with an exciting week full of hands-on experiences. Students enjoyed a visit from 4-H, where they participated in engaging activities and even got up close with a reptile petting zoo! 🐍🦎
On our final day, Bentley Burns inspired campers with an interactive magic presentation centered on the importance of perseverance, having a positive attitude, and committing to continuous learning. His message reminded students that with determination and curiosity, they can accomplish great things. ✨🎩
We also wrapped up camp with one of our favorite traditions—CDA Olympics! 🏅 Campers worked together in teams to tackle a variety of fun challenges that tested their teamwork, creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills. The competition was fierce, but the sportsmanship and encouragement shown by everyone made us all winners.
Thank you to our students, families, guest presenters, staff, and community partners for making this summer such a success. We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful school year, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for each of our campers!
💙 Until next summer!

This morning, students had the opportunity to explore constellations and the myths behind them during an immersive presentation by guest speaker Mr. Blake from the UNA Planetarium. This unique learning experience was a tremendous hit with both students and teachers.

We are having a great first week of camp! A huge thank-you to NEMCC Campus Police for taking time to speak with our students yesterday. They shared valuable information about internet safety and wrapped up the visit by giving students an opportunity to explore their equipment and gear.
