THANK you to the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry for visiting Highland Turner Elementary on Wednesday, September 2nd, to provide vision exams for our 3rd and 5th grade students. School coordinators, Mrs. Jamey and Mrs. Linda appreciate their support in helping ensure our students have the vision care they need to thrive! 💛💚

On August 27th and September 1st, Mrs. Debbie Noble from the Breathitt County Health Department met with 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students as part of the Too Good For Drugs program. Students enjoyed Mrs. Noble’s lessons and activities, which focused on making healthy choices, building self-confidence and developing skills to resist peer pressure. We appreciate Mrs. Noble and the Breathitt County Health Department for providing this valuable program and helping our students make positive decisions for a healthy future.

School Coordinators, PRI, Mrs. Jamey and FRC, Mrs. Linda met with 5th and 6th grade students to discuss emotions, self-worth, friendship, and healthy ways to manage feelings. Students enjoyed listening to a story and participating in an engaging activity that encouraged conversation and self reflection.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.

A reminder to check in, listen with compassion, and make space for the conversations that matter.

You never truly know what someone is carrying behind their smile, so ask how they are. Stay a little longer. Listen without judgment. Remind them that they are loved, valued, and never a burden.

And if you are the one struggling, please remember: you do not have to go through it alone. Your story is not over. The world is better with you in it.
