Another terrific meeting last night. The theme "Why I joined Toastmasters" got us off to a great semester start. Many of our students that couldn’t come due to summer school classes started back tonight. We inducted 3 new members: From Left to Right Cameron Barnett an ASU student, Ginger Loggins, an ASU Professor and Brian Ziegler an ASU MBA student. Welcome to our High Country Toastmasters club.

Wayne Grubaugh, our club coach from Gastonia helped induct our new 2016-2017 officers:

From left to right: Wayne Grubaugh, Marie Wilkie, President, Katherine Alford, VP of Education, Perry Combes, Sargent at Arms, Stacey Gibson our Secretary & Treasurer, Nick Sands our VP of Membership. Not pictured: Gina Feazelle, our VP of PR.

Our group last night included two returning members, Terri Lockwood and Greg Margio!

Next week Ginger Loggins has graciously agreed to be our Toastmaster. We hope you will join us.

What a great open house we had on Tuesday! Our guest speaker, Kent Tarbutton of Chetola Resort gave a very insightful speech on "The Power of Partnerships". (He even let me keep his notes to share with the club.) Our guests were delightful to get to know and we look forward to seeing them again. Here are just a few pictures from the evening.

Just checked the High Country Toastmaster's calendar and see that Ginger Logins is going to be giving her "Ice Breaker" speech at our meeting next Tuesday, May 10th. We'll also be hearing a speech from Bill Baldwin.
Hope you can make it...and bring a friend!

Thank you to all who were able to attend and participated in last night’s meeting.
• Bill gave a wonderful speech/recital about several of his original poems. It is always great to hear original work by the author.
• Next week I will be Toastmaster. The theme is “Things Your Dog Knows About You”.
• Stacey has signed up to do a speech and Gina will be an evaluator.
• Helen will kick off presentations by the officers with a short speech on her role as VP of Education.
Looking forward to seeing everyone then! Don't forget to invite a friend or two.

We had a great meeting last night with the theme being "Ugly Sports Uniforms". Thank you Gina for that fun look at what can only be called questionable choices and fun facts. Frankie did a reading of the article, "A Love Letter To Siri", which gave us a look into the improving communication skills of a 13 year old autistic boy with the help of the Apple app.
After the meeting eleven of us met for our monthly "Post Toastie" dinner at Puerto Nuevo. Oh I wish I had thought to get a picture of the group! Next time.
Next week we will be having a mock Speech Contest with 3 - 4 speakers. This is will be a great way to practice our speeches in a "contest" atmosphere and get us ready to do the real thing in the fall.

Another terrific meeting last night. The theme "Procrastination" got many of us deciding we had to stop the practice...NOW! We learned how to make "Rocket Nose Cone" from Perry Combs. Table Topics (those little one to two minutes speeches) by Katherine Alford made us how to turn procrastination into productive activities.
Katherine will be our Toastmaster for next week with speeches from Gina Feazelle and Frankie Groff. We hope you will join us.

What a wonderful meeting we had last night. Bill Baldwin told us a marvelous story from his childhood and we had two visitors, Brian Ziegler and Ginger Loggins. Thank you to Kevin Spalding and Wayne Grubaugh for the very informative train sessions. To top the night off, we inducted three new members! Welcome E.J. Horrocks, Nick Sands, and Fei Shao.
Frankie Groff will be the Toastmaster for next week and her theme is "Funny Put Down Words". Be sure to visit our High Country Toastmasters website and sign up for your roles. See you March 1st.
