Last Thursday, local first responders from six departments, Army National Guard soldiers, Veterans of Foreign Wars members, City of Boone officials, DMACC Women’s Basketball student-athletes, and many other Boone community members came together to make Christmas special and memorable for 96 local children.

Thanks to the generosity of the Boone community, the Boone Police Association was able to purchase $125 worth of life and educational necessities and toys for each child selected. Including additional materials and services needed to host the event, a total of $14,600 was spent on Shop with a Cop 2025.

Due to winter weather, a few selected children were unable to attend. If this applies to your child, please contact Officer Sherrard with the Boone Police Department, and we will arrange for a gift bag and Walmart gift card to be picked up at your convenience.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Boone County Fairgrounds and Boone Walmart for donating their facilities, allowing everyone to gather safely and comfortably out of the winter weather.

The Boone Police Association is also grateful to:
• Hirta for safely transporting our guests
• Boone South Casey’s for donating pizza
• Boone Fareway for donating drinks, paper plates, and napkins
• Boone Hy-Vee for hosting the chili feed fundraising event
• Boone Parent Teacher Organization for donating cookies
• Boone Rotary Club for donating books
• Dutch Oven Bakery, Dairy Queen, and McDonald’s for donating coupons

We are thankful for the many additional sponsors who helped make Shop with a Cop a success and look forward to recognizing them on a sponsorship board.

The adventure continues for the Boone Police Association and we look forward to interacting with you all at future fundraising and Shop with a Cop events!

Last night’s Chili Feed Fundraiser was a massive success!

City of Boone Police Officers ended up serving a total of 496 bowls of chili to the community and receiving $3,326 in donations for next month’s Shop with a Cop charity event!

Thank you to all that attended and donated so generously.

A big thank you as well to the Boone Hy-Vee for donating all of the chili, cinnamon rolls, bowls, utensils, and space for this event to take place. Our local Hy-Vee has always been such a great supporter of the Shop with a Cop event and a positive influence to the community.

Shop with a Cop nomination forms are due back to the Boone PD in THREE days (Monday, Nov. 10th, 2025). Feel free to swing by the Boone PD during normal business hours to pick up a nomination form or email [email protected] for a copy that can be filled out digitally and emailed back.

Below are the requirements for nominees:
-Must be in need of social or economic assistance.
-Be a local student in kindergarten through 6th grade.

No plans for dinner this Thursday? Don't have the motivation to cook? Boone PD and our local Hy-Vee have you covered! Stop by the Boone Hy-Vee this Thursday for $3 bottomless chili! We serve chili to go as well for those of you that are on the run.

All proceeds will go toward our Shop with a Cop charity event taking place in December.

💙 Thank you, community!

Both of these events are fundraisers for the Shop with a Cop event in December. These events usually have an impressive attendance from our community and are a great opportunity to interact with Boone's local law enforcement. Stop by if you can!

We are very excited to announce that the Boone PD Association that hosts the annual Shop with a Cop event is now accepting donations through PayPal and Venmo. Please share the news so we can make this Christmas one to remember for Boone's local children.

We have been thrilled and inspired by Boone's generosity in previous years. There have been years where we were able to increase the spending budget of each child at Walmart, include Fareway gift cards, and even full hams for Christmas meals. Your donations truly can make a big difference for Boone's local children.

If you wish to nominate a child in need, nomination forms can be collected at the Boone Police Department during normal business hours. A nominee must meet the following requirements:
-Is in need of social or economic assistance.
-Is a student in kindergarten through 6th grade.

The Boone Police Benevolence Association is hosting its Shop with a Cop event on Dec 14! We are still accepting applications.
