Building Hopes

Building Hopes Building Legos has helped him in so many ways and he wants to share that experience with kids battling cancer and other diseases.

Joseph’s Journey – Building Hopes
Each time Joseph, age twelve, has had brain surgery – and it’s been three times – the first thing he wants to do afterwards is build Legos. Joseph wants to give back because he has been given so much. So Joseph, and his family started a foundation called Building Hopes. Through this foundation, Joseph hopes to inspire children across the nation to host Lego drives

to provide Legos to kids in inpatient units and outpatient clinics at their local hospitals. Joseph thought of this idea following his last surgery and treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Joseph was the first pediatric patient in the world to receive oncolytic viral therapy during brain tumor surgery. Building Hopes aims to feature a ‘Hope Builder of the Week’, highlighting the efforts of children who collect Legos to build up the hopes of pediatric patients and their families in their own community. The family hopes to make this site not only inspiring, but a great resource for other families who need to find pediatric cancer treatment programs available throughout the US. One year ago today; Joseph Dees Founder of Building Hopes went to be with The Lord Jesus Christ. While he spent a short life on this Earth, he left behind a legacy with huge a heart, humility and love that touched many people. The LEGOs he loved and what they do for so many kids battling sickness was just one part of his life story he will be remembered for. His love for God was even bigger.
