Just heard Richard Barrera speak at State Council. We REALLY need to lean in to this race for the Superintendent of Public Instruction. He understands the issues and will create effective change. 15-1 classes for the littles? Amen. Fully funded family healthcare for all educators, yes please! And to make sure that the fourth biggest economy prioritizes education to ensure a solid future for our students.

Corina Martinez, a kindergarten teacher at Pioneer Elementary School in Escondido, was named one of five 2026 California Teachers of the Year. She was recognized for building a legacy of leadership and partnership with community organizations.

Bonsall High School teacher Gregory Hinchliff was named a finalist for the award; he is known for establishing partnerships with local Native American tribes, universities, and community groups.
