Auditions for 49th Annual Bonitafest Melodrama are July 28 and 29
Auditions for the 49th annual Bonitafest Melodrama are July 28 and 29 at the Sweetwater Community Church, 5305 Sweetwater Road, near the intersection of Bonita Road and Sweetwater Road. Tryouts begin promptly at 6 p.m.
The musical-comedy requires children, teens and adults of all ages. Professionals and beginners are welcome. Auditioners will be asked to read from the script and sing a 30-second a ca****la selection from a show tune. There is no participation fee for theatre artists and musicians. The project is safe for children and teenagers.
Bonita playwright/composer Dr. Max Branscomb will write direct the production. Kerie Muller is the stage manager. Ken Santillan is the musical director. Performances are Sept. 23-26.
The Bonitafest Melodrama is San Diego County’s longest running theatre production. It has been honored for theatrical excellence, providing opportunities for underrepresented performing artists, promoting community, teaching history and reflecting multiculturalism.
