Last Sunday we had a huge success and the heartfelt response during book release gathering for Oski & Mi-ma. It was quite a gather of special and supportive friends and family who understand and support our goals of spreading the word of how devastating CJD is and helping all understand the importance of meaningful research to end the disease. 💜💜💜💜. Special thanks to those that helped me get ready, brought food, made sure the w**e was flowing. Mitch, Jill, Mike, Christina, Suz, Susan, Jennie, Jonny, and others. Special thanks to Barb Lawrence for manning the book sales and distribution. I can’t thank her enough. Thanks to Jason Hanna and his Swinging Bananas for terrific music. Oski & Mi-Ma — written by yours truly. It’s a memoir of the deep bond between Rosie and and our grandson, with beautiful illustrations by Norm Daniels. Through the eyes of a child, Oski & Mi-Ma gently explores what it means to lose someone we love — and how the love they gave us never really leaves. It serves as not only a reminder of a child’s special relationship with their loved one, but the impact and importance they had on that person. It’s a story meant to comfort, to open conversation, and to remind young readers that the relationship they shared holds greater importance than the loss itself.

All proceeds from the book supports the Rosie’s Reef Foundation, funding research, family support, and education for those affected by Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD).

CJD Family Conference has wrapped up with great updates on the progress being made in the fight against CJD. 5 pharmaceuticals in study’s, including two 1st and 2nd stage human trials. There’s hope mounting in the fight against this terrible disease. Oski & Mima made its debut. San Diego Strides was recognized for its fundraising efforts and we’re glad to have Rudolf Petris, Volunteer of the Year on board as part of San Diego Strides 2026, this upcoming October 4, 2026. Besides his great beard, he has great glasses! 🤓

In Chicago for day 1 of The Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation, Inc. Family Conference. This will be my 3rd conference, this time with “Oski & Mima” on sale and eagerly waiting to learn more about the research advancements over the past year.
Of course, there will be new families to meet, affected by this awful disease, looking for answers.

Mother’s Day is not only a day to celebrate our mothers, grandmothers, and friends that are. Whether it’s your mother, grandmother, spouse, or friend, it’s also a day for those of us to remember those we used to say Happy Mother’s Day to. Take this day to remember all the wonderful things these women meant to us and embrace those special moments that we hold dear. We do.

Heres my story of my Rosie’s and grandson’s relationship was during her battle with CJD. After giving it to him, I realized that I could make some good out of the story, to comfort and explain loss to other young ones and teach the special relationship they had with their loved one has purpose. My hope is that this will help of some of you with this important message

Oski & Mi-ma is finally out to print. All proceeds go to the Rosie’s Reef Foundation to support organizations doing the hard work in the fight against CJD such as the CJD Foundation and the UCSF Memory & Aging Center.
