Today is Dr. Rima Abbas’ birthday. We remember her compassion and the way she never stood still when people needed help. ❤️ In her honor, the Abbas Family Red Wagon Fund is raising funds for displaced children and families in Lebanon. Thank you to everyone who joined us for Michigan’s 13th annual 100 Arab American Women Who Care giving circle.

Together, we pooled our philanthropy into an impactful $10,000 grant for A Girl Like Me, Inc. Based in Detroit, this organization is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive and judgment-free community where girls and young mothers feel seen, valued and empowered to thrive.

Every year, the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) honors an exceptional individual whose commitment to community embodies the essence of Arab American philanthropy.

At our eighth annual Threads of Giving Gala, taking place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Chicago, we will proudly honor Dr. Mohayya H. Khilfeh as our 2026 Outstanding Arab American Philanthropist of the Year in recognition of a lifetime devoted to bringing healing, hope and heart to countless lives.

As a compassionate pediatrician and community leader from Nablus, Palestine, Dr. Khilfeh has dedicated herself to the well-being of others through healthcare, expanding access to education and preserving cultural heritage.

We hope you will join us in Chicago as we gather to recognize Dr. Khilfeh. Learn more and purchase your ticket/sponsorship at https://www.centeraap.org/events/threads-of-giving-gala-2026/

Ramah Awad honors her Palestinian family’s lineage of resilience by paying it forward through her many years of community organizing. As someone whose family experienced the Nakba, her story reflects the unbroken connection to homeland carried across generations, especially today, May 15, as we commemorate 78 years since the start of the Nakba.

The Center for Arab American Philanthropy is proud to share Ramah Awad’s story as we mark 15 years of our work, as she represents one of the many ways Arabs in the U.S. continue to care for their communities, make change, and preserve memory.
