The last of the 1000+ daffodil bulbs were planted this morning in Windom. We have several to get back into the ground in Savoy thanks to an armadillo who took advantage of the watered area😂It has truly been an honor to join with our local communities to bring this program to fruition, and we cannot wait to see the blooms in the spring!

The daffodil plantings are almost finished. Honey Grove Beautification and Honey Grove Chamber-Commerce committed to plant 650 heirloom Campernelle bulbs and it was a beautiful morning to get this accomplished . Thank you to Zatayvia and Mayor Claude Caffee for pitching in!

Fannin County Master Gardeners have been busy the last several weeks putting in mass plantings of daffodils. A generous donor provided the funds to purchase 1000 bulbs from The Southern Bulb Company, and 7 cities planned for their planting. A minimum of 175 bulbs have been or will be planted at each city while some purchased additional bulbs for their areas. Shout out to The City of Bonham, Ector Beautification Association, City of Honey Grove in conjunction with the Honey Grove Chamber of Commerce and Honey Grove Beautification Association, City of Leonard, City of Savoy, City of Trenton, and City of Windom.
FCMGA invites you to come out and learn more about bulbs this Friday Fannin County Fair when Chris Wiesinger-The Bulb Hunter presents at 10 AM. Gate admission is free for that morning and there is NO cost to attend this session. We hope to see you there! Also a big shout out to Laurine Blake for leading both these projects!

Come see The Bulb Hunter-Chris Wiesinger at the Fannin County Fair on Friday, October 9 at 10 am. Fannin County Master Gardeners have 2 events coming up that we hope you will join us for. The first is our Winter Gardening and Bulb program that will cover extending your growing season, preparing for winter, and all things bulbs. This event will get you ready for the special guest who will be speaking during the Fannin County Fair this year, Chris Wiesinger, The Bulb Hunter, who will be presenting on Southern Bulb Gardening. This morning during the annual Leonard Picnic, the FCMG were happy to attend the dedication of new memorial wreath stands and laying of the wreaths at the Leonard Veteran’s Memorial. Several FCMG reside in Leonard and have been working on revitalizing this area. It was a beautiful ceremony and was well attended by the community including relatives of the fallen heroes. Thanks go out Metalworks for the wreath design and construction, Double O Seven Farms and Bear Creek Country Stores for native perennials, and and Feed Bonham for the mulch!
