Bolles Harbor Improvement Association, Inc. The Bolles Harbor Improvement Association was incorporated on January 18th, 1946. Its mission is to "Maintain, preserve & enhance park property".

LaPlaisance Bay Settlement
When the war of 1812 began, LaPlaisance Bay settlement consisted of 14 homes along the creek. Medard Labadie considered a hero for his partisispation in the battles of the River Raisin and those at Fort Meigs and Thames, was a French settler here. Here the American Army came onshore after its march on the ice covered Lake Erie from the Maumee River to the River Raisin, Jan. 18, 1813, after stopping to eat lunch and organize the army successfully attacked the British and Indian positions at Frenchtown. Monroe's first deep-water harbor developed from improvements bugun here in 1826 by the LaPlaisance Bay Harbor Company and later the Federal Goverment.

The illegal weeds that was growing in the playground area have been removed and properly disposed of. After the equipment has been sandblasted and painted we'll be bringing in mulch. If you would like to help we'll post the date when we know. Until then enjoy.

The Biscayne Ave bridge to the park is closed until further notice for reconstruction. It shouldn't take as long as LaPlaisance Road bridge over I-75.
